I really like this medical student guy, but I'm leaving to Canada in three days. What should I do?

Making a point of qualifying your new acquaintance as "a medical student guy" suggests you are enamored with the possiblity of marrying a doctor, which is not unreasonable. From your post, it also appears your mom is enthused with this idea, as many mothers would be.

You live in Hawaii, he lives in Nevada. You have only been friendly with him for a week and a half.

His suggesting he may transfer to a med school in Hawaii is probably more wishful thinking than a practical reality.

It would not hurt to continue communicating via emails and such, and being open to exploring any possibilities of friendship... or more.

However, the possibility of a long term relationship (friendly or romantic) will depend in no small part upon what your own goals are that include college and career aspirations. You have not mentioned these.
