I'm very interested in seeing the 25-35 yo female responses to this too (if there are any out there!). Many guys just insist that this is the reason they want to date younger women, and it has nothing to do with their insecurities, etc. but... do these younger women really want to date them?
My experience using Match is an emphatic "yes."

Close to all women selected an age range higher than hers. I observed a consistent pattern of women with minimal accomplishment and salary seeking older, higher-income men.

It was quite rare to find a women seeking men with an equal "over / under" her own age.

Concordantly ...

my average is to date men 15-20 years older...
As I stated... I date men typically 15-20 years older. Mainly because, I have found that they are at a stage in life that I am comfortable with. They don't stress about the mundane things, have grown to appreciate what life has to offer, and are true gentlemen in the sense of what I am looking for.

I am not "only" looking to date men in that range, and have dated guys from 27 to 61... I find that men typically 48-56 are about what works the best.

I do though, normally let guys know that I'm... "not interested" if I see in their profiles that they are only interested in women much younger than them. If this is the case, I am probably not the right person for them.

The guy I am dating now is in his upper 50's. A guy friend of mine (42) joked that I didn't want to date him because he's not old enough for me ... this is not the case, but he is just at a point in his career where he works horrible hours, always stressed, etc... this is not what I'm looking for. Not saying that all older guys don't have to go through this or that all younger guys do. This is just the rolling average that I have found in my last year of re-entering the dating world.

I'm in my early thirties, and I think I have my preferences set for 5 years younger to 10 years older. Realistically, if I were to date 10 years younger, I'd be dating someone the age of many of my students - and that would be kind of creepy. I want someone in the same life-stage as me, and that generally means +/- 5 years but some men take longer to mature so a little older could be okay.

Thanks Juss for starting the thread. I'm really new to the site and would have just started it from scratch. The reason I asked the question in the other forum was that other sites I have been on, many of the women only wanted the age range just a few years older than themselves. And I was curious as to if women would actually date guys older than the 5 years, what age range they were looking for and why? If possible, I'd like to start another family (very painful subject-will not discuss on the boards) and wondered if I even had a chance to do that. Also, I'm an aquarius... curious by nature!

BTW, was on phone with my mother, to wish her a Happy Mother's Day.

my preferences on Eharmony are my age and up to 10 years older.

i have dated several men younger than me by up to 3 years and never felt that "in charge in the relationship" thing from them.

i really need the man to be the man. to me that means that he is the leader of the relationship. he still takes my point of view into consideration and actually values my opinion and finds it helpful to him in decision making, but he is the leader.

i don't know if it was a dysfunction on their part, my part, or both. it really made me uncomfortable.

by the way.....a good leader isn't controlling. he is patient and good at teaching and rewards appropriately

I am 25 years old and generally prefer to date people 2-10 years older than me. Men that are my age or younger are just too immature. They still like to go out binge drinking every other night, 'date' like college kids, and aren't looking to settle down anytime soon. My experience with never-married men over 35 that are willing to date the 25 and under crowd is pretty much the exact same. :-) They are not looking to settle down (despite what they say), party all the time, and generally just relive their college days.

I'd say my ideal right now would be 30.
