Ladies: You're going out on your first date with a guy you just met. You meet at the restaurant/bar for the date. What does this guy wear on the first date that gets your toes curling and the butterflies flappin'?

Pretty much anything besides buttless chaps. full-on drag attire, or anything too costume-ish.

Really, I'm looking at the man, not what he wears.

It's more what he doesn't wear. Oops didn't mean that the way it sounds.

Meant: don't wear things that are off-putting. Unfortunately the exact definition of that will vary from woman to woman. For me it would be:

Sunglasses so I can't see your eyes.
Way too tight anything.
Dirty, frayed, smelly, ... seems like this would be obvious but it isn't!
Way over- or under-dressed for the venue.
Way too much jewelry.

OK but there are a few things I really like:
Jeans.
No animal products.

That's about it!

i know. i am not a lady. but my recommendation for dress is always- just go as yourself. how you normally are. hopefully neat and clean.

do not dress outside of what you normally wear.

Oh come on now, be honest, I know that is what you are hoping he is wearing

Totally depends on the venue for the event. Bowling? Nothing wrong with jeans and a sports shirt (do men still wear sports shirts?)..but please not your red and black polyester Rons Hot Rods bowling team shirt.

Out to dinner? Slacks and a nice shirt.

Hike with the dogs? Casual pants and tee shirt..with plenty of pockets for doggie treats and plastic bags.

For me, it's important that the first few dates NOT be in theatres where we can't talk and get to know one another.
