So I've been dating this young lady for about 6 months and things have been great. Anyway, the other day I took her to a museum. We had a great time. Afterwards we went to the gift shop, which unlike most places sold real gifts (jewelry, art and such). Somehow we got separated while we were looking at the stuff. Suddenly she found me and showed me this beautiful bracelet she was wearing. She told me that she was going to get it. I told her that I would buy it for her, to which she responded, "Uh, you haven't seen what it costs." Then she showed me what it cost and I was like "wow, yeah I guess not." So she bought it herself.

Should I be concerned that she didn't let me buy the bracelet for her? Am I over-reacting or is she playing some kind of game?

Who cares?

If she's playing a game, she lost.

You made a mistake to offer, without knowing the cost, too.

Well, that's whats bothering me. There's so much out there about women being gold diggers. Should I be worried that she might not be a gold-digger? Or will she use this down the road as leverage?

I didn't care about the cost. Until she showed me.

I dont think so. If I did that and the guy said no I would be perfectly fine with it. But I have always bought my own luxuries anyway, unless he just did it or offered. I don't drop hints, personally.

~face-palm~
She really wanted it. So she bought it.
You wanted to, but it was obviously expensive, so you didn't.

What should she have done? Not bought it? Would that have made you feel better, and why?
