Maybe it's the matches that I get, but it seems like almost everyone of them is big on camping, fishing and hiking. Whatever happened to going to the movies, a museum or the beach? I'm not really an "outdoorsy" type in that I'm not a fan of camping, fishing or hiking although the latter I would be open to for the exercise. Have any of you guys experienced this as well?

I'm pretty sure the beaches are still outdoors.

LOL. Good one! I'm talking about activities like camping, hiking, and fishing. Not a fan. I go to the dentist's office and there are millions of "Field & Stream" magazines. I'd rather read a "Highlights" magazine if they had one. I'd rather catch up on Goofus & Gallant than read about camping, hiking or fishing.

You might be running across the women who think the only way to attract a man is to pretend or "suffer" through what a man likes. You may also be running across the women who truly enjoy the outdoors.

And there are always people that put in whatever activities they have done in the last 20 years on their leisure time list. Maybe the last time they camped was when they were 12.

Maybe it's generational. Do you date younger women? I've always been 'outdoorsy' though I'm not into fishing and I am into the beach (and include the beach as outdoorsy). I've always laughed a little at the 'indoor' kids and was suprised to find myself dating a 'gamer' or two.

Outdoorsy might be more fashionable for my age group. We grew up in the 80's ...everything seemed so artificial and plastic. We wanted something more natural and real. We also grew up riding bikes and playing outside. At least where I grew up.

I don't think of 'outdoorsy' as being a sudden thing at all since it is pretty prevalent in people I know. I do know people who would not describe themselves this way but they are fewer.

One very wise wonderful and funny 49 y o woman I dated from this very board told me "I go camping, but you know what?

The older you get, the harder the ground gets."

Trust me I hear women complain about men watching sports but majority of my matches say they love watching AND playing sports. Go figure.

If I want a fish, I will go and buy one at Safeway. I don't understand these guys who get up at 4am in Minnesota and drill holes in the ice and go fishing. ~~Bobby Slayton.

To me, the "Outdoors" is the space between the front door of the apartment lobby and the door of the taxicab.

I will be ready to go hiking when you will be able to find easy chairs in the forest.

I think a great compromise is a date at the drive-in. I know I love activities that involve both indoor and outdoor activities. I love the zoo followed by great converstation over lunch. Another great date is a sporting event where you can get pumped up by the action and still be able to talk. There's nothing like taking in a great game stitting out on the grass and talking with someone with something to say!
