If a younger guy, who has never been married, and has no children, ever seriously date an older woman if her baby days were done? I have had many offers, but always declined them because I felt that since they had never been married or had any children, they might want children one day and they wouldn't get that from me. I think it would be different dating a guy that had children, but one that didn't....well, looking forward to your opinions.

I think it is not a fair assumption that a yonger man, simply due to not have children, must want children.

I have none, and will not.

Now, the more-general question, of whether yonger men typically want the same objectives, warrants more scrutiny.

My husband, who passed away 5 years ago, was never married and 10 years younger than I. He was 35 and I was 45 when we married. I waited to marry again until my children were mostly grown and out of the house. My husband went from rock n' roll bachelor to grandpa and did it well.

He believed in zero population growth and felt it unfair to expect a woman to not have children..he was very active - had a job, was a union president, a volunteer, a musician who played gigs..wanted a woman who was also active and shared political and social interests..we worked together for years before we dated.

I've been dating for a bit over 2 years now and, at 67, I find most of my dates in the 55-65 year old range. My boyfriend is 61-though at this age, the gap of years isn't as important as it might be to someone much younger.

Hope my 'story' gives you hopes.

So, the most important thing is compatibility, and similar interests and not children or age? I just didn't want to get caught up in younger men who just want to experiment with experience. After all, younger, same age or older, if a guy wants sex they will probably say anything you want to hear to get it. So I had better learn to improve my skills at filtering out the players?

I think the important thing is to know what you want out of a relationship. For example you already know that you don't want or can't have children for one thing. When a guy wants to date you then you can take the time to get to know them and find out if they are a player or if they are interested in the same things you are before you get serious.

I do want to add is that there are guys out there that WILL NOT say anything you want to hear just for sex. Take each guy individually no matter what the age for your sake and theirs!

Best of luck!

I was once in just such a situation as you describe with an older woman. The fact that she wasn't going to have any more children and I started to want them was a substantial part of why our relationship ended. Also, keep in mind that the only reason why the man being 'younger' might be relevant is that as he might be more likely to change his mind later on (as I did) than a man who is older. The thing is....even a man who is not younger may want, or later decide he wants, children.

Also consider finances. An older woman often has a good assured income from employment and/or an inheritance. I was in a relationship with a younger man whose primary interest, it turned out, was in my money.

Being functionally illiterate and can't read, and as the age increases the memory decreases, do we know how old you are. And what you consider to be "younger" guys? Seems that this information would be relevant to this discussion.

Personally I happen to like younger women. About 52 is just about a perfect age for me I think.
