Hi all. I was wondering if you might have some advice for a newbie.

I recently decided after a six year break from dating I was ready to get back out there. Thus far, it has been a complete bust. I’m not even meeting anyone, much less going on dates. I’m not introverted. I am involved with friends and social activities. I am just not meeting any men.

Although I do not live in a small town, the area is what I consider “stifled” at best. There are not a lot of cultural or community activities. Those that do occur are geared to the 18-30 age group and I am 40. I also work and go to school full time. Although I have free time, I do have to plan it carefully.

I have joined eHarmony but that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. I tried another site, but resulted in nothing more than requests for hookups. Short of becoming a barfly or “cougaring” my way across the school campus, I am at a loss as to meet anyone locally. If anyone has any advice, ideas, etc it would be appreciated.

I don't have an answer for you, but I enjoyed your post. Especially imagining someone 'cougaring their way across a campus.' LOL

Well, you've got one behind the couch and another hiding in the pantry guarding his steaks and OJ. I'd say you've made a decent start.

And if you find some IRL post back and let us know where! We'll all be there directly and we'll bring our own supplies.

And that will be a good thing, 'cause, then I will know where to find the women. 'hmmm... checks in pantry and behind couch only to be disappointed by men.
