Okay so here goes. I met this girl by chance at her workplace and she seemed really nice. I went back a few times and we talked and texted and we went out on our first date recently. By far the best date I have been on, we had a lot to talk about we laughed at the end of the night it was obvious neither of us wanted it to end. Now I was brought up not to ask a woman her age (chivalry is not dead yet folks) any way it wasn’t even something I was really concerned about at all. I'm 28 (29 in a few days) and after our date I was guessing she was about 23-25 based on things we talked about. College, work etc. So she calls me and asked me "How old do you think I am?" Immediately alarms in my head are going off and I’m thinking something is wrong here. Well anyway she knew how old I was and told me she was 18. I was shocked. I thought no way. This girl wasn’t acting like an 18 year old she seemed much more mature. She said that she didn’t tell me earlier because she didn’t want it to affect our first data but thought I should know now and not later. I think she handled it quite well actually but I have never dated anyone that much younger then me and I’m not sure what to do. Just looking to see if anyone else has been in a similar situation or has any good advice on the subject.

...and your conundrum is?...

Listen...as long as her father, brothers, uncles, and male cousins don't mind...you are okay...

But please tell me she is not your first cousin and there is a trailer looming in the distant horizon...lol

(*ahem*...Sorry...just feeling the great family day I had today...just do like TP said and "Enjoy"!!!!...I hate when folks kevetech for no good reason....)

At age 28, 10 years younger is a significant age difference. However, you say she acts more mature (and I would say that how she handled revealing her age would bear this out). You also indicate some shared interests and life experience so it may not be a problem. Also in your favor is that you were not seeking a significantly younger woman and she went into the first date knowing how old you were.

I think I would go forward with this relationship with your eyes open and thinking between the ears. It may be that you are both on the same track even with the age difference.

I'd ask for verification. I have a family member who did time over a girl who swore she was 18.

I've dated bigger age gaps than that when I was her age but you must realize that, at 18, she may very likely be too young for a serious relationship.

When I was 18 I had a 30 year old hit on me. I asked him his age and when he told me 30 I told him "You're old"

Everything went south after that

More fun?....

Age is just a number...it's all relative. As long as your date doesn't ask for a stick of bubblegum during the first date...or ask you to take her to Kid-R-Robics... it's all good.

Just stay within the legal age limit and you should be okay.

BTW: I am highly attracted to men much older than me...and after reading this thread, I am darn glad I'm NOT a cougar. Life is complicated enough without having to worry if your date is really the legal age limit...or having the local police crash down your hotel door...or if you go to meet your lady friend and you are face to face with the "To Catch a Predator" guy from MSNBC you know you're really in trouble!...yikes! (lol)

Same advice to you...ENJOY and stay safe!
