I'm not a woman, so I can't answer that...but usually that's their standard answer!

If it's a woman, it's called being 'lady like' and 'looking out for her safety'.

I'm no lady so I always bring my own safety.

Thinking....I believe we got the right to drive right around the same time we were allowed to vote and hold property. Not sure though, I wonder if there are any law historians on the board.

*thinks*
I'm new to the discussion boards, but not so new to on-line dating. Used match.com and yahoo before joining eh. So don't know posting procedures very well. BUT...in answering the question about driving to meet a first date. I have met many guys on first dates from out-of-town. None and I mean none of them expected me to go to their town to meet them. In every case they came to my town. The only exception was meeting someone who lived in St Louis MO. I live in southeast michigan. He was willing to come this far, but I thought it would be more fun to meet in Chicago. Worked out great for both of us. Had a wonderful time...unfortunately we weren't a long-term match. Unless you are desperate or think this guy is something really really special...I'd pass.

Waiting for a new thread to start next week, a guy complaining that he drove three hours to meet a new match....and her fingernail polish was chipped!
No need for new thread:

I drove over 400 miles ($35 in gas)fficeffice" />
Hotel ($120+)
Lunch ($50)
Coffee ($7)
Bandaid ($.25 for splinters on my toes because I had to walk a couple miles in dress shoes because she didn’t offer to drive me back to my car)
Wine ($9….she was the one inviting me that night, but paid for her own wine and not mine)

Total: $221.25

Can I submit this to EH for reimbursement check?

And then wasn't interested in a second date right?

That right there is why I decided to do the driving/flying if it's a long-distance match. I think it's just too much to expect when I know it's a dice roll for 'em on the chemistry.

Hi wild_thyme... Welcome to eHahaha.

For most of my local encounters, I almost always will go to the womens location. However there have been a few cases where the women preferred to come to my town.

Being an experienced online dater as yourself, you know e-dating takes some compromising on both parts. So I don't see how a woman driving to a mans location would make her desperate!

is your question the one in the thread title or the one in the post?
I know some people here aren't as traditional thinking as others... so, the question may appear silly or may not make sense to some.

Basically, for those who do believe in more traditional views, was wondering if they felt whether it is gentleman-like for the guy to ask the woman to drive 3 hours to see him for a first "meet" or, at least... should it be a meet in-between situation. It just seemed a little weird for me that he asked me to drive up to see him. As someone pointed out in another post, that might be a sign of behavior yet to come. Or, it could be that he wants to make it a nice date (probably more involved than I would normally do on a first date), and he feels more comfortable on his own turf to make sure it goes well.

Is dating complicated? Well, married as a teenager, for all of my adult life... I'd say... heckya!!

Everybody feeling good, now? Was it really necessary to derail this thread and get snarky at the expense of the OP? It's been made abundently clear on these boards that several people here have taken a personal dislike to her. I know it. I'm sure the OP knows it. Lori knows it. Anyone who reads the boards knows it.

And yes; I've deleted a ton of posts from this thread (a mere 50), most of which did nothing more than snark at the OP. I was frankly embarrassed to see them; you people are better than that.

All of you know the site guidelines here. They are not difficult to follow. If you don't care for the threads the OP starts, then don't read them. Put her on your ignore list and be done with it.

This is a one-chance-and-that's-it warning in this thread. If people can't manage to behave (and I know that you can), it will be locked.

Thank you.

also, what happen to WAD? I thought you liked him!

You mean I missed WAD???

What is this guy DW3 (similar to DW40) (Dude whose 3 hrs away) ???

For those who dont live in the area....Jussmile lives in the Seattle area which means this guys lives in Portland, Vancouver, or on the east side of the mountain like near Yakima or the Hanford nuclear dump (must be that glow about him).

If you are going to trek on this and drive 3 hrs to see him, I would plan on staying in a hotel that night and then drive back in the morning.

In a LDR like this for this to ever go anywhere both people need to be willing to travel to see each other where you trade off travling on the weekends.

What kind of work does he do---this could be an issue...where with his chedule who doesnt have 2 consecutive free days.

If the thing is for the guy to plan the date---which you expect of the guys--- then I think it is better for you to travel to someplace he is familiar with and show you around rather than him plan for some place in seattle he has no clue about or how to get to (which makes him look bad).

If this date is just for a dinner and thats it then maybe you guys could meat at some place in the middle.....though there isnt all that much in the middle with any location because of the smaller sized towns.

Were there a significant city in between the two of you then maybe you can meet someplace in the middle (the ones that come to mind are olympia, ellensburg, or bellingham)

Of course, he could still be on probabtion so he cant leave state or county lines.
