My point is that things are different and expectations are different. There's nothing wrong with that. Some women would have been horribly offended had this guy mentioned that she didn't manicure her nails... some women would be offended if a guy insists on paying for a date.

Maybe there is a correlation here. Either way, I wasn't offended. I should have painted my nails (rather removed the polish), but just didn't have time, and felt the rest of the package made up for it this once !

Don't forget the toes ... that should be worth at least twice as much.

I went out on a date and looked really nice, my hair was nice, dressed nicely, smelled nicely, the whole nine yards... only problem, I didn't have time to paint my fingernails. The nail polish on them had chipped (I had a mani/pedi a week before, but they messed up the base coat). Anyway, I try to always look in top form. But, on my date last night, the guy commented on how my nails were not manicured ! It kinda bothered him.

Personal opinion, but I think you are dating the wrong kind of guys.

Interesting... almost insinuates that he would be "embarrassed" whether he was paying or not, but could only comment if he were paying.
No. My insinuation is that a woman who feels entitled to be paid for had best make sure she gives good value for the man's money...and I wasn't referring to your choices in particular, just to your reference of the cost of prepping for a date.

Personally, I'd find any critical comment on my grooming gauche...and would consider it so to do the same in return.

Wow, I can't believe he actually commented on your lack of nail polish perfection.

I always keep my nails trimmed and in good condition (no jags etc), but I rarely bother with polish. My hands always get noticed, he'll usually pick one up and say 'Wow, do you ever have little hands!'

It's not that they weren't polished... that would have been fine. It's just that the polish on them were chipped... noticeably in my opinion. Well, obviously so.

Wrong kind of guy = Guy shallow enough to eliminate you as a dating partner because your nail polish was chipped.

Men have certain expectations of women, so I personally think it okay for women to have certain expectations of men. All things aren't quite equal are they?
Was the guy straight? I can't imagine making negative comments about someone's fingernails, and I couldn't care less if you paint yours or not.

Maybe some guys are just too observant...and maybe too comfortable sharing his thoughts...

Heck I recall going out on a second date with a girl a while ago (not from EH) and I guess she was too comfortable with me...talking about various topics, commenting about lots of stuff...and from talking about pizza to her talking about colon cleansing among other things...lol...I asked her, uhm....you always talk about this stuff to most guys? She said..nah..just with the the ones I'm comfortable with.

So I guess when a girl talks about colons and other organs, she's comfortable with you and that's a compliment

What was the question again?? Oh yeah...I think jussmile should go out with that guy again...this almost guarantees us fun updates and reading!
