I am going to start this early because I *already* finished my weekend fun!!

Did a midweek road trip (1200+ miles) RT from here to Ventura/Los Angeles/Orange County, and of note here is the fact that my best pal from down there, Horst, he and I went bar-hopping/clubbng midweek, in the incredbly sweet midweek So Cal warm, summery, weather.

I basically don't ever drink at all --- but this opportunity to see night life , guided by an insider, was too good to pass up, and so we bounced ALL over the San Fernando Valley, (Casa Vega/Pineapple Hil/Pat's/Ireland's 32 (and a couple of more, that were closed)

A couple of things worth noting (by an auslander like me) were that the females down there are REALLY approachable, and really friendly and NOT afraid as single women to come into the places alone. And NOT afraid to dress up nicely, in sexy looking outfits; that is NOTHING at all like Nor Cal. that you would ever see. I thought it was pretty refreshing,

My buddy who (used to be in the business end of the music business who knows the "scene" well,) assured me that the women were NOT "pro's -- because, he said, they did not have nose jobs, teeth, breast "lift" or other jobs, was how you could tell..lol

He said there's also a real HUGE drug fueled scenedown there, where (for example) it is nothing to see rock stars/entertainers blowing off $10,000 more of cocaine etc on weekend parties; He was at several, and at one of them, and went and used used the bathroom, in a mansion, and too late, washed his hands with white powder out of a dish that he THOUGHT was soap, that he found out too late, was something * else *.....

The live music we heard was AMAZING !! Really really *great* talent abounds, in LA, and having now seen some, first hand, I am convinced, some of it was, I think, just a talent scout away from stardom... I mean it.

I loved the food, too, it's seriously great in LA/OC, for instance, Jerry's in Costa Mesa and Woodland Hills was SF/Paris level quality food, (and I am familiiar with both).. The valet parking in CM reminded me of a car show,--- ultra new, six figure Maseratis, Lamborghinis, Mercedes, BMWs, Rolls Royces in a row. all of them, lined up nose out, in a row, put there by the parking valets, ALL of them customers' cars !!!

Crazy amounts of money out there in Orange County and Beverly Hillls/Westside, for sure.

I love it in LA -- as a visitor. I'd love to have a house up on Coldwater cyn, off Mulholland, or the Hollywood Hills. Amazing.

Ready to relax and do nothing now this weekend, now I am back.

What are you guys doing this weekend?

Nothing.

I'm so depressed right now, I'd be of no use to anybody, anyway.

Sounds like a blast. I am going to get away from it all this weekend, taking the girlfriend to Austin for an art show and having lunch with a friend of mine (it will be the first time the girlfriend has met any of my friends, so should be nice). Currently planning for lunch at Hut's Hamburgers on sixth street, haven't decided where dinner will be may try some place I never have before. Going to stay over night to avoid driving back and get some quality alone time with the girlfriend and then head back Sunday after brunch at Kerbey Lane Cafe (the original on Kerbey Lane in Austin. Looking forward to it. But tonight after work I am going to have a couple of beers and listen to some vinyl and maybe watch my shows on Hulu but I will likely crash early so I am not tired tomorrow.

I am at home this morning since the plumber is here. I will have to go into work later but I really don't want to. I would really like to take a nap in a little bit truth be told. lol!

Just another exciting Friday.

That is cool that your girl is meeting your friends, Steve. Sounds like things are going well for you.

And j8a - I am sorry you are sad.

Glad you are enjoying yourself, 6del899.

oh woww! just took me a minute to realize what YOU were talking about here... durrr

6dle - your trip sounds awesome! One of my cousins is originally from a relatively small, upstate NY town and has been living out in OC for a few years now (attending school & working) and has described it very much like you have. As a young single, she *lovesss* it! All of California actually, but says it's definitely a 'different kind of world' there. Glad to hear you had a good 'weekend'.

I made NO plans for this weekend. I haven't been feeling 100% lately, and so I figured it's best to take the weekend to just kind of chill out w/ no kids home and try and get caught up on some things that I don't always have (or make) the time to get to.

I might be game to do something last minute w/ friends if we thought something up, but, if not... I'll be perfectly content with having a low-key couple of days before the week starts up again.

I'm "working" form home today. I actually have a legit excuse (as opposed to normal when I make up a reason to work from home) since I have an important package being delivered today. I actually have to do some tidying up since the woman I'm dating is coming over tonight, so there I will probably alternate between cleaning and working for the most of the day.

Ahh yes, it's yet another weekend.

I will be here intermittently reading the boards for my reading and viewing pleasures while taking breaks from work.

You were already depressed, or became depressed reading about the "So Cal cocaine party?"
