If anyone objected to me using a coupon, I would ask the server for separate checks.

Although I admire your spirit, carrying a couple thousand dollars in hundred dollar bills guarantees you a fine night of her doing her level best to keep the gravy flowing.

In the morning, just put it on your expense report.

Yep some people think they're too good for this.

Thanks PY--it's just what I think about the whole thing. It just seems like in the grand scheme of things, there are so many more important things to be concerned about than using a coupon on a first date.

Wanting one's lifestyle subsidized by another is gold-digging, wanting a pointless excess of spending bestowed upon oneself is beyond gold-digging.

I posted the other week "why bother" dating? Again some posts have shown the answer.

True! Hey what are those more important things? Wanna talk about it over dinner? I got coupon for two at Applebee's!

I have bronchitis, so I'm not a good date tonight...but how about next weekend? Is the coupon still good?

Even if it expires,I'll still pay for the dinner, no worries

(so sorry about the bronchitis, maybe I should go to the store instead and drop a bottle of cough syrup in front of your door or something)

I'm making a batch of lovely hand-made soup tomorrow!

Ladies, what'll it be: PY's generic cough syrup, or some lovely hand-made soup?

I will present a scenario.....(and this has happened to me about the coupon/ticket, etc).

Say you both are sports fan...and your date just got a couple courtside tickets to your favorite team match. He wants to take you...(yes, even paying for the stupid $7 hotdogs)...would that make it less special? Courtside tickets cost lots of money, would it make you less appreciated because he didn't pay money for them?

Hundreds of dollars worth in 'coupons/ticket'

VS

Let's go to a sportsbar and watch it on TV

BUT I know in advance some of y'all will pinpoint that sportsbar is not a good first date...which is not really my point at all!
