Just a quick little story for your enjoyment...

Yesterday I was in an office to move some phones (my job). The receptionist was a student like me, and I sensed some good vibes.

I've been thinking lately, I need to start following up when strangers send me signals.

So, I went back today, allegedly hoping to find a glove that I lost. (Didn't lose any gloves ) She showed me around looking for it. I asked her out! She blushed heavily and said "I have a boyfriend, but I'm flattered."

So, the moral of the story is... take risks and do stuff like this! I already feel more confident in myself. And I guess I just had to share this.

Well good for you! Nothing ventured nothing gained!

Reminds me of the one time I went to a Lowes store with my parents while they were looking for a washer. The one girl there was extrememly cute and really nice. I didn't have the guts to ask her out than so I left the store and thought about her all the time for over a week.

Finally, I went back to the store and found her. I made small talk about looking for something, than asked her out. She smiled and extended her hand to me....to show me her engagement ring!

I asked her if that meant no and she laughed and said she was flattered that I had come all the way back just to ask her out.

She was not offended and was actually impressed that I had done it.

But I am usually shy around girls, so I have not done that again.. yet... working on it!

Yeah, this was one I couldn't let slide! I didn't want to waste any time wondering what would have happened. Wow, that was a lot of W's.

Now there's that girl who works at the grocery store...

And the gas station, and the corner store, and the coffee shop, the funeral home....

Can find them anywhere, just gotta get up the gumption to ask! OH and check the finger first!!! *LOL*

I love this guys. I believe you always regret the things you *don't*do more than the things you do.

And I love how you guys still felt good even though you didn't get the date, just because you had the guts to try and your advances were handled gracefully. Nice thread.

Good for you! And thanks for sharing a cute story. You're right that risk-taking is part of life...

My brother is a dentist who became interested in one of his female patients after her first visit. He called her the next day to ask 'how her tooth was.' She said "fine," and then said "you didn't call about my tooth, did you?" (She was a sharp one.)

Turns out she was engaged. But wait. She's been my sister-in-law for over 30 years. Ya never know!

So your brother asked his sister in law out? That would sure make Thanksgiving awkward...

Yes. I remember the first time I asked a girl out out of the blue like that. Turned out she had a girlfriend, coincidentally when she moved out of her parents house she got an apartment two doors down from mine and I spent a lot of time hanging out with her and her friends. We are still good friends today though I moved out of the apartment after 6 months when I started working out of the area and I haven't seen her in a couple of months.

But after doing so the confidence I gained was very nice and I think overall it worked very well for me.
