Last month I got matched up with a woman locally who is the perfect woman for me. Nobody's perfect, of course, but in terms of her inner and outer beauty, plus the fact that we have so many things in common...she's wonderful. However, I didn't want to get my hopes up so I was cautious as we went through the Guided Communication stage. Finally, a week later we made it to Open Communication stage and began to e-mail each other back and forth. We clicked. There was an instant connection and our first phone conversation was for 5 hours. We would have talked longer were it not for the necessity of sleep. Anyway, the funny part of this is that just before I met her I was going to close my eHarmony account because I was frustrated with not getting good matches or being matched up with women in other states. Then, she came along.

Well, we have been on 4 dates so far and we're taking it slow...not "in a relationship" yet. As far as I know, she is still on eHarmony and getting matches. However, after meeting with her on our first date and talking to her, I closed my eHarmony account for 2 reasons: 1) I'm trying to save money this year. 2) There was only 1 other match on eHarmony in my home state and I wasn't interested. The others were all out of state.

We went to the movies last week and she mentioned that she would like to go bowling and bring her best friend, a platonic friend, along with us. One of my friends said that this is a sign that she likes me and wants to get his feedback on me. What do you think?

Congratulations. As one of the 20% of the population that was rejected by a certain online dating site, you do not realize how lucky you are.

Congratulations! Isn't it is amazing feeling when you spend so much time going through matches and feeling as if things aren't going to work for you when you get matched with a person and everything seems to snap together? That is fantastic! I wish you the best of luck.

And yes, I would consider her wanting to introduce you to her friends as a very good sign. It is probably less for getting feedback from her friends and more as just wanting to slowly bring you into her circle of friends.

So it has been a month, you want to continue seeing her. When do you think you will suggest to her that you two should become exclusive?

Congradulations ... I want to thank you for sharing and sparking hope. As you know the search to find the one can be trying at times.

Sorry to rain on your parade a little bit, but you ain't in the safe zone yet. Four dates and she still has her account active and not in a relationship yet. Her friend can absolutely either shoe you in or block you out in one sentence.

I was in a very similar situation as yours....went on four dates, she mentioned about cooking for me and introducing me to her group of friends. On the fourth date it took just one sentence from me "I'm thinking of relocating within a couple years"...and it took about 20 minutes from her asking me what kind of food I'd like her to cook for me to "I'll call you sometime". Ironically, it was right after we went bowling also

Just wanted to add this is something that I had been open right from the beginning, even put it on my about me section that I am thinking of relocating.

I'd say don't be jumping for joy yet and enjoy what you have for now.

Oh yeah happy new year LOL

Thank you for the kind words. If there is any lesson here it is that you've got to keep on keeping on. Don't give up. And I say this as someone who has been on eHarmony for almost 2 years...and with a track record of bad dates, bad luck with matches and many times coming close to throwing in the towel. I don't know where this relationship with the woman I got matched up with is going, but I can honestly tell you that she is my ideal woman. After being with her and around her, I don't have any interest in anyone else. What's good about this relationship is that we are building a friendship together and most relationships start out as friendships. But she really does like me and I feel the same way about her. And ever since we started communicating with each other, I can't tell you how grateful and lucky I am that she got matched up with me. She was one of my early Christmas presents in 2009. I am optimistic about the future and I see our relationship continuing to develop although it is impossible to know just how things will go. But I look forward to it and I know I'm lucky and the same thing can happen to all of you if you remain persistent. Never give up. Because I do believe there is one person out there for all of us. And I can't say for sure that she is the one for me, but all I know is that her and I connect on so many levels and if there was a schematic diagram to build the perfect woman for me, she'd be the one.

I agree. Don't count your chickens yet...
Although I think it's great you've gone on four dates....four dates "does not a relationship make..."

I would not have closed my account, I would have just put a hold on receiving any info..she isn't closing hers, and you shouldn't either.
and BTW, she could be bringing her friend because she wants her to meet you, or, she wants YOU to meet her...
Capishe?

It does happen.

She's bringing a guy friend. Well, I can always rejoin eHarmony if I wanted to...plus I closed the match with her anyway since we were communicating outside of eH. I don't think it's a big deal. We're progressing slowly, but progressing nevertheless and I am enjoying the process of the progress. I like to take things slow, too, and by developing it like this I think we're doing the right thing. We had dinner last week which we had planned on and during dinner she asked if I had any other plans that night, which I did not. So she asked me if I wanted to go see the new movie "Nine" which I did and we had a great time. BTW the movie was awesome.
