I've seen lots of posts from folks around this age who have never been married so I thought we should have a look at this Group!

40+ And Never Married

I'm going to be eligible for this Group myself in a few years and although I am fortunate in that people don't make some of the weird comments I've heard some people report back to us (yikes!), I definitely struggle with a bit of internal pressure about the fact that I've never married.

This Group is designed to be a haven from that sort of thing and a place where folks can give and get support....and also revel in the positives of being single in this age bracket!

If you're in this category, please check it out!

~~~
A bit too young for this Group? We have a 30-Something and Never Married Group, too:
You mean I have to wait until I'm 40 to be "never married?!"
Not fair!
Nope! I say as long as you've never been married, you're never married!
Better?
I think it is unfortunate that people in this boat are forced, in this country, to undergo the questionings and unsavory murmurings about this status.
I was 46 years old when I got married, so I saw a LOT of it, made worse by the fact it was my chioce to live, work and buy a home in San Francisco.
You would have thought that since SF became a "gay mecca" that this kind of thing would not exist, but, alas, nevertheless it did.
Even though well over 50% of its residents have never been married, much similar to NYC and other big cities.
I could only imagine the horror attendant to this, if I had spent those years gestating in white surburbia, or a small rural town somewhere.
It must have affected me, as finally I grimly set about to get married, and did so after a relatively whirlwind courtship, a mistake for which I paid dearly....
Statistics suggest a HUGE number of American households are comprised of never married and formerly married people.
The stigma has faded pretty much though I would be liar to say it did not still exist.....
Now if only there was a way to economically and ecologically sustainably COOK for one person.
I think, maybe - I will open a RESTAURANT for single people.
You'd eat, standing over the SINK.
Well, I got married at 37. It lasted 3 years. Now I wish I was in this category of never married over 40. I've never been hurt so badly by a woman in my life. Its been 10 months since we separated and I'm still in a ton of emotional pain. But I guess being 41 and divorced has less of a stigma because at least women know I can commit. I committed alright, but at a huge price and am trying not to be cynical and guarded.
So this evening I learn of two groups I'm eligible for.
If I shacked up through my 20s but not in a legally sanctioned relationship do I still qualify? In my defense we argued in a spiteful and destructive way and didn't have much sex ~ just like a real married couple would've done.
Richey ~ are you really over 40? I thought you were a kid! Or were you talking about the Eat Standing Over the Sink group?
I'll be 38 in March, so most likely I will be in this group as well. How did it come to this?
