I'm just wondering who here is using the icebreakers? I would have thought that it would be a much less threatening way of letting someone know you are interested in them and would like to initiate some contact. But noooooo. It seems that this is still a bit much for the guys I've been matched up with at least. I decided to send at least an icebreaker to the ones who I was even semi-interested in. I have 12 matches on my page who I sent icebreakers to and STILL have yet to hear from any of them.

How long is reasonable to wait for someone to respond? If you aren't interested, I would much rather you just close the match. Break the ice or take the plunge. Neither are dangerous and neither will cause scars. Discuss.

I've tried a few icebreakers, and several have responded and some haven't. I'd say wait a week or two and if you still haven't heard anything, move on. No point in waiting around for someone who isn't interested in you.

I received an icebreaker and I wasn't sure quite how to respond to it. Why not just send a request for communication? I don't get it.

I think most of the icebreakers are rather cheesy sounding my self and have never used them.

I have sentone icebreaker, with no response and one woman sent me an icebreaker. I closed her. (it wasn't her picture) I have decided to just request communication. I don't think it will make any difference in the response rate.

Interesting responses. I appreciate the points of view. The whole icebreaker thing is new to me. I've never received one either so how do you go about responding? What are the options? Can you only pick something from the drop down or can you request communication from there? Not sure how it works either.

I've gotten a few and to be honest I think they are dumb (sorry!!) I just don't see the difference in a request to communicate.....

Its basically the same thing, except one is cheesier...

I received an ice breaker, and I started into Guided Communication with that guy after receiving it. I closed him later, though.

I tried sending a few, and didn't get any responses. But I think the questions are a bit cheesy as well. So it's either send an ice breaker or send 5 questions that I didn't write and don't really care about.

Yeah, they pretty much suck. That or it's me. I like to believe it's the IceBreakers!! I once sent an IceBreaker while chewing IceBreakers gum. Wow!!!!! What an exhilarating experience that was!!! My monitor fogged up!!! Lol!
