A couple weeks ago a friend took me across the border into Mexico to meet his sister-in-law, 'R'....but at the last minute she had to work late, so I didn't meet her that weekend. I did meet her whole family though, including her triplet sister.

This past Saturday afternoon I bought some ice cream for her nephews and niece and took it down to them. I actually didn't expect to meet 'R', as she works on Saturdays....but her sister (who I had already met) invited me to go to a children's birthday party and R showed up later.

We got to talk a little bit and enjoyed watching the kids play musical chairs etc. and took some photos. We drove around the city a little bit afterward and she seemed pretty interested in sticking close to me. When I left she asked me when I was going to come back....which my friend and his wife told me is quite forward for her, as they are pretty conservative. Though....apparently by telling her I'm busy next Saturday during the day she got the mistaken impression that I either wasn't really interested in her or that I maybe have another girlfriend. Oy vay.

So this morning I sent her an email with some of the photos we had taken, as I had told her I would. I also explained more about why I'm going to be busy during the day next Saturday....but that I'd still like to come down to see her that evening anyway as I don't want to wait 2 weeks before seeing her again. At least I'm getting a little help from her sister (my friend's wife) to help me navigate the cultural differences that seem to exist.

Hmmm ... first she disappears when you are supposed to meet and then appears when she's supposed to be at work? Seems like a lot of coincidences, good luck with this one!

You know I cannot imagine why you would say that. But frankly, it seems kinda mean.

The original post I mean.

That or I am just tured and crabby. Take your pick,
I'd never intentionally say something mean to you. Sorry if it came across that way. Get a good night's sleep!

lol....do I detect a hint of skepticism? I can't say if her reason for now showing up the previous time I went down was legit....but her family seems to believe her. In any case, when she showed up at the birthday party this past Saturday by then it was evening and it was after she was off work. Her sister had called to tell her I was there and she came after she got off.

Perhaps just a tad. I think you were getting the family approval test, fortunately you were deemed worthy.

Strangely, while my impression is that oftentimes in the U.S. the approval of a young woman's family is the kiss of death (with the woman)....it might actually be a positive over there. We'll see what happens (or doesn't).

It's that time of the week folks!

How was your weekend?

Any dates to report? If so, how'd they go?

I chillaxed this weekend though I did run some errands, including getting four new tires for my car

(waaaaaah, that hurt$!).

How about you?
hah. Tires???!!

I got a whole 'nother CAR !!!! (that I do NOT need.)

I should have tried for a date - instead of this "Albatross".

I am "exhausted".
