I was chatting with mate today, and he mentioned he been volunteering with a conservation project near home. It seems that quite a number of fairy penguins had been making the end of a major pier home. I was aware that fairy penguins had habitats along the coast line, but had never heard they turned up so close to the city centre. Apparently, to avoid undue pressure on the penguins the particular location had not been publicised, although was very obvious. Tourist often found their way there. One issue was that flash photography upsets the penguins. My mate’s role was to advice visitors to refrain from taking flash photos.
Anyway, I had been planning to meet a date for a walk; although in the hills. Thus, I decided we would stroll along the foreshore instead; around dust, in time to wonder up and see the penguins. I figured I wouldn’t mention them so she’d be surprised. It has been barmy weather this weekend, so a late supper seemed to be in order.
Oh, she was starting a new job the next day, so I offered to make it another time. I was pleased we she agreed to met later.
I figure this is a neat idea.

Fleuellen, you've truly brought dating up to an art form. You have set the bar quite high.

The other men will hate, yes, even loathe you.

Be proud

.But.........still...watch your back.....

Never underestimate the kudos you get from a little forethought in date planning, booking a table for dinner is all very well but something unusual which she might like says that you took the time to think of something out of the ordinary, and even more important, that you thought she was *worth* taking the time to think of something out of the ordinary.
I took a girlfriend and her friends paintballing (no, not a first date) and in a bandanna she was the spitting image of Vasquez in Aliens, so she got to run around for hours shooting anything that moved and was so pumped up all day that it made for a very interesting night.

Excellent date idea. Sadly I am quite certain that there are no fairy penguins any where near where I live (except maybe at Sea World)

Those kinds of ideas are great as long as it doesn't end uplike the great date in the movie "Hitch."

I like to take my dates out for hot dogs... I even pay for them...

I was matching a lonely young guy to find his dream lady and suggested volunteering to help with the kids after school to meet his dream date lady. He wanted to have lots of children. ha. He actually did meet his dream girl, married her and has his first daughter. ha. so i'm a match maker too.
