Which would you prefer?
Neither as they are two extremes. I'd prefer the middle one, the customer that behaves appropriately having a job done and pays for it accordingly for the service provided.

I bribe the garbagemen with beer all the time.

I could put a dead body out on the curb and they'd take it if there was a 6 pack perched atop it.

I pay the $20 large item fee directly to the garbage men. I figure they did all the work they should get the money. There is one job I would hate to have.

Now I know who to get in contact with if I ever need to dispose of a dead body. Not that it would ever happen mind you.

If I had to pick the victim it would be the customers who don't get a discount.
imo they're not victims if they do not know how to negotiate or price compare properly. It's ones thing to get a better cost by being smart buyer vs. getting one because your blouse is unbuttoned!

And you probably couldn't be manipulated. What you fail to realize is these are people who don't either like their jobs or their employer. What they are doing is employee theft, you do realize that? You would be hard pressed to get me to put one over on my employer to empress anyone.
So now *they* are the only ones doing something wrong? Is that it? Rationalise it any way you want, it's nasty.

I kinda agree with you kinda not. Just because people can't see there is no free lunch doesn't mean they are not a victim. How about the idiot jurors that give those huge malpractice settlements. They don't see they are jacking up their own insurance costs.....I could go on but judging from your post I would be preaching to the choir.

Am I doing something wrong? I feel bad about it so probably. Then again I would still be nice to these people regardless if they cut me a break or not so maybe I am just fine.

You think they are innocent? Do you think they would cut anything off that bill if it was coming out of their pockets?

You can hate me all you want but I only posted this because it is an interesting topic. I would imagine I treat other people far better than most of the people who are coming down on me.

My favorite are the guys who whistle and cat call from their cars while I am changing my flat. Nice guys, really. Yet I would pull over and change a flat for someone else whether the driver be male of female.
