So, since the used car analogy was fun, how about this.

If the world of dating was a swimming pool and you had to place yourself somewhere within that scene, where would you be?

Diving into the deep end off the high board? Tentatively paddling around in the shallow end? Confidently lapping the length of the pool? Sitting by the vending machine, comfort eating your fears away?

I would be in the changing rooms I think. I've had a nice swim, it was good but right now I want to be dressed from head to toe in sweatshirting and heading for a hot chocolate. I want to feel loved by these creature comforts in a small and managable way.

How about you?

I dove into the deep end off the high board, there was no water, and THEN the pool was filled.

I didn't float up.

Hope this is not too creepy an image.

I like the changing room analogy! Let's see, hmmm. I've been padding 'round the pool for awhile and it's almost time to get out, find a lounge chair and hire a full time tanning butler

Last time, I jumped off the high board and nearly broke my neck on the bottom of that relationship ...

Now ...shallow end ...and my doggie-paddle is broken.

I am sitting on the edge, dipping my feet, making a pretense of studying my German and flirting with the guys in the pool.

With a bit of luck I won't fall in with my textbook before I graduate in December.

The water is cold so it took me a long time to get in. The pool is pretty crowded and there are a LOT of much better swimmers than me. So far I've been pushed around a little, but I'm still hoping to get a feel for it. There are a lot of those big floaty noodles in the pool and a nice guy asked me if I wanted to use his. When I said no, he wouldn't play with me anymore. I think I'm getting out for awhile. I like the pool but I think I need some lessons. It's been a long time.

I'm sunbathing on a lounger away from the pool.
