Well, I started out swimming laps, and now I am treading water, and boy I am getting tired, but I know if I stop or if I get out of the water I will only have to start all over again.

Irate with all the people in the way not letting me practice my swim stroke. Then I realize people are there to enjoy themselves, not train or practice. This is a park pool, not an Olympic one. Then I realize that everyone else is enjoying themselves with friends or couples. Begin to feel very out of place with my googles, ear plugs, and speedo. How did I end up here by myself anyway? Promptly remove myself from water. Go home. Attempt to forget,... incident. Go to sleep.

Rinse. Repeat.

I go to a swimming pool to (try to) stay in shape, have fun with the water slides, and to later relax in a hot tub.

Isn't love all about pleasure and making yourself look and feel good?

Sitting on the edge of the pool with my toes in the water, deciding whether I want to dive back in again or just lay out and listen to my mp3 for a while.

That sums it up for me.

I've been kind of waiting for them to get the sharks out of the water, too.

Thought I'd found my groove about four months ago.

Three months of racing up and down the pool and feeling great about it.

Then an unexpected and scary incident in the deep end with too much water swallowed.

After a month of sitting on the deck catching my breath I'm ready to jump back in ... maybe next weekend.

That's why you should be swimming in a beautiful, pristine lake in the mountains that has never before been disturbed by human beings. Only deer lapping delicately at its sweet waters.
