Exactly my point. Even meeting with Matches on E harmony I would have spoken to them at least once before meeting. Heck someone could have been typing their answers for them. I want to make sure we connect. I think the word "gift' is what's hanging everyone up here. We aren't talking diamonds... there is no obligation with a token other than "thank you." It does not send the mesasge desperate either. Desperate in my opinion is meeting with someone you haven't vetted. And yes, I know I will probably be crucified for having this opinion. Anyone truly serious about meeting someone would not have a problem having conversation prior to the meet up.

I would be thrilled. It shows you are a gentleman and that you are appreciative. I think it sets you apart from others.
