The IM thing would be enough to turn me off. IM drives me crazy except for AOL where I mainly talk to family.

I turned off IM on MySpace and Facebook it's like no sooner do I sign on it's like bam bam bam, I am hammered with IM's they must have some sort of setting where I pop up the moment I sign on and it' like rapid fire. It's really annoying.

I have used both Match and EHarmony. I am still a paying member for EHarmony, for I just started using it a month ago. As for Match, I was a paying member for a month. I will admit that I did get A LOT of responses from Match. I was sincere wih my e-mails, and most of the girls would respond to me. The site was confusing though. I did not know if the women there really wanted a relationship. On this sites, I think most matches are looking for a relationships. The thing is I have not had any luck with EHarmony. I got to OC twice, and I sent only 2 e-mails. The two people never responded again, and 1 closed me saying she wants to pursue other matches. I was confused by this, but there is nothing I can do. It all comes down to what you really want.

I used both sites. Eharmony didn't do it for me, but I met my sweetie on Match. Of course, I was doing the online dating thing for many!years before I met him, so I don't know how realistic it is to think you'll find success right away.

I didn't just do the online dating thing, I also went out with friends and joined the Single Gourmet. I went on lots of dates and had several relationships. I met very high quality men who treated me very well, but never felt I had met "The One" til now. Match had sent my profile to him as a suggestion and the rest is history

I find that Match is better so far. There are more men to choose from and way more communication being initiated with men. Further, there are more variety of men to select from -looks, professionally, income etc. I find that the matches sent to me on EH are not attractive to me and most seem like they have no ambition. And I do. Odd. This leads me to believe that merely getting along is only factor to consider in a relationship...

If a woman winks at me & I am interested I will e-mail her.

There is a different standard for men on the site. If I were a woman I would not respond to winks or ice breakers.
I am a woman and whenever a guy winks at me, I wonder if he has something stuck in his eye.

I don't want to date a guy with something in his eye. That's (like) too much (like) work.

I only did match, so I can't compare match and eH. I did have some success with match. Communicated with several men, went on a few dates, then matched up with my guy. It's not perfect (What method is?), but it worked for me.
