Have you ever written, or received, a love poem? If so, what was it?

This thread requests special requirements:
1. EVERY reply should include a poem.
2. I ask that folks RATE reply poems.
3. If a posted poem is not your own, please acknowledge the author.
4. If you wish to comment without a poem to post, use a private message to that participant.
5. Please try to keep any posted poems to at most a PG rating.

Here is one that I wrote this morning, as a match reminded me of our first month anniversary.

My heart’s all a-flutter, thinking of you…
Your sweetness fills the air…
Your humor makes me laugh too…

I’m overwhelmed, and that’s a good thing…
My thoughts do soar...
And my soul has taken wing.

I make no claim about being a poet. I'm a computer geek! Now, what poems have you given or received? Others are welcome to borrow this post, but it's certainly not my best...

I received poetry in the mail once a week from June 2007 until recently.

This is the last one I received.

Will This Pass by Ali Torrelli

"No words within me
To describe the joy and pain
Of loving you so

Knowing I must go
But wishing to stay
I am pulled in two

Words spoken
Aching for time to pass and
Heal our open wounds

Waiting and hoping
I wonder what is to come
For me, you, and us

Will this pass? Our love?

No words within me
That can describe this feeling
Of utter emptiness."

Yes, I have written poetry, and have received poetry. The poetry I received was spur of the moment and in verbal format. I don't remember what he said, but I do remember how it made me feel, which was wonderful.

Robert says this post
Needs a poem - Ha!
Here it is - Booya!

-Haiku by me just now.

Time trickles slowly,
Mind numbly blissful;
A shadow stares
Back into my soul,
Time continues on,
And so must I
Continue on.

I can't abide your requirements as I can neither read nor write poetry.

I have never sent nor received any poem, love or otherwise.

No one has ever written me a poem.

(HINT, HINT!)

Robert, I love this thread and I'm sorry I didn't meet the minimum requirements! The only poetry I wrote about love was in college, was terribly depressing and resides only in my memory and in a box crammed full of my college stuff deep in my closet at home!

OK I'll try my hand at one real quick-like:

~~~
Burning through the bitter, heavy darkness
eyes wide open, ever seeking love
sandstorms sting, wind whips - still they peer, unabated
their light banishes the darkness more completely than the sun above
~~~

There you have it, quick and dirty and all off rhythm - lol - but that is for my Advicers, who never give up looking for love.

I've posted this before, so pls forgive redundancy.
...

Would you could you sex your ex?
Would you could you make a mess?

Would you could you in a car?
Would you could you in a bar?

I would not could not in a car!
I would not could not in a bar!

I do not like sex with my ex!
I do not like to make a mess!

Should you would you in a house?
Should you would you lose your blouse?

Would you like it on the bed?
Or would you like the couch instead?

Would you like it on the floor?
Would you like to close the door?

Try it! Try it! You may see!

I do not like it! Let me be!

I do not want it in the house!
I do not want to lose my blouse!

I do not want it on the bed!
I do not want the couch instead!

I do not want it on the floor!
Now please go out and shut my door!

You should try it in the shower!
You should try it with a flower!

Try it! Try it! Find the mood!
Try it! Try it in the nude!

Try it! Try it fully dressed!
Try it! Like it! Please confess!

If I try it, will you leave?
Will you please just let me be?

Here, I will try sex with my ex.
And I do like it! I confess!

I will try it in the shower!
I will try it with a flower!

I will do her in a car!
Bend her over in a bar!

I will do it fully dressed!
I will kindly leave a mess.

I'll mope and wonder what I did
And how this will affect my kid.

So tell me tell me if you will
Where's the payoff, what's the bill?

There is no payoff, that's the rut.
You were thinking with your nuts.

And I wrote this for my son's mom, had it engraved, and gave it to her the day our son was born:

Thank you, Mommy
Thank you, Mommy, for carrying me all these days
Thank you, Mommy, in a million little ways.
Thank you for your breath, which gave my body life
Thank you for your strength when I woke you at night.
Thank you, Mommy, for your loving hugs
I could feel them, Mommy - you knew that I could.
Thank you, Mommy, for giving me your heart
It sang me to sleep with sweet songs in the dark.
Thank you, Mommy, for your body's warmth
It was my soothing blanket for all these long months.
Thank you, Mommy, for my hair, nose and eyes
My fingers and toesies and wings for to fly.
Maybe not wings, but you know what I mean
You gave it all to me, Mommy, from head down to feet.
I love you, Mommy, for all that you've done
And I'm glad that God made me your baby son.
Thank you, Dear Mommy, from my little heart
I'll love you all the more once we are apart.
