So here's how it went down. I arrived at her place last night around 6:45pm, and she was dressed up to the nines and ready to go out to dinner. I said, let's go have dinner and take a walk by the monuments.

She didn't want to go see the monuments at all. She said she was tired, that she just worked 12 hours, she didn't have the right shoes, and she's seen them before.

I knew at that point I had to change my plans and take her to go see the monuments first, because if we ate dinner first, it would be next to impossible to get her to go out to see the monuments.

So I convinced her to change her shoes and go with me on the Metro down, and with her being a bit grumpy and saying stuff like "I'm really thinking I should put my foot down and say no monuments tonight." and "Whaddya mean it will be a good day tomorrow... I have to work a 30 hour shift tomorrow and you don't, how can you say it would be a good day." (with me knowing that she's getting the ring, I said that she's going to have a good day tomorrow ), eventually, we made it down to the Smithsonian exit.

So we get out, and there is this huge loud R&B concert going on, and my first thought is we need to get out of here and down by the monuments where it is quiet. So we walk down to the Washington Monument, and by here she says, "Ok... you were right, the monuments are beautiful at night. Even I need a little cajoling to get moving now and then."

So we walk past the Washington Monument, walk and see the WW2 Monument and see the fountain, then we walk about halfway between the WW2 Monument and the Lincoln Memorial alongside the reflecting pool, and I find a bench and we sit on it.

I say "I have something for you." and I bring out a letter. I've given her two love letters before, and she thinks this letter is another one of them. I read the letter to her out loud, and say at the end "Will you marry me?", and I reach for the ring, and she starts saying "Really? Really?". She starts crying and as I open the ring box, she says "Yes!"

It was a great moment.

She was completely surprised too. She was expecting it in 3 weeks or later, not now.

As we walk back to the Metro, she calls her grandma and parents, and I call my parents, and she starts laughing when her mom says "Let the phone calls begin!!!"

We take the Metro back, and she was like "And I gave you such a hard time on going out tonight... I'm so sorry." We finish the evening by having PF Changs for dinner.

It was a great evening.

And she completely loves the ring. Her ring is designed for light performance, and it sparkles like mad, and she can't stop staring at it.

It looks like Mr Right finally has his Match...

It's going to be a long time till she can stop staring at the brilliant dazzle of The Ring. Wait till she gets it out in the sunlight. Or under the spotlights in ceiling cans. You'll be driving somewhere in the car, and just sitting in the front seat, it's going to throw little prisms all over the dash. And then there's the girlfriends...Yeah, for her the fun is just beginning!

It's all because of you, Mr Right.
And the love you share.

I don't think you know how many people lived vicariously through you. Unfortunately...the wedding planning stuff isn't going to be nearly as interesting as the whole date/wooing/pop the question timeline...well, at least for guys.
