So!!!

I got the ring today.

And the darn thing not only blinded me when exposed to direct sunlight, it's also burning a metaphorical hole in my pocket.

So here's the deal.

Friday (tomorrow), I'm meeting up with her and another couple for dinner.

Saturday, I'm meeting up with my friends during the day, and then meeting her at 6pm for a nice dinner in DC somewhere.

Next weekend is my birthday, Saturday night we're celebrating with my family, Sunday is the Renn faire, so that is kind of out (I told her it would be super dorky to propose at the faire).

See, the key here is, she knows it's coming, but she is certain that I'm waiting till the week after next weekend to ask her parents. Because I'm very traditional and all that, and I told her that I wanted to ask her parents first, and we're both flying up in two and a half weeks up to Chicago to see them.

BUT! But, I found her parent's number on the interweb, and I plan on calling them this Saturday morning and asking them over the phone, because I want to make it a surprise.

Like in two days. TWO DAYS!

It's going to happen then.

I gotta focus. I should write another love letter, because that's what I've done in the past. Maybe read it out loud this time, and use the words "marry me" in it.

Focus!

OK. If I don't post in the next few days, I'll post on Sunday, and let y'all know how it goes.

You know, I panic when I reach in my pocket ... and can't find my USB chip.

This, I could not handle.

Not the metro, man. Too many people around!

I'm thinking dinner in DC somewhere (there's a place she wanted to go that is new), then walking around the mall at night, checking out the tidal basin, reading the letter there, then proposing.

I love it when a plan comes together!

Eh, DC is more special since we both met here... at least, that's the logic I'm going for.

And barf? Booooo.

Woo-hoo! That was my "vote" back in your "proposal" thread...lol.

But, maybe it's because I live here, too, and I know how absolutely lovely and romantic it can be there, especially at night (errr...not like the experience cp30 had once of been dragged to monument after monument after a day of trainings...lol!).

Seriously, though, it will be lovely. Just don't be too close to the Tidal Basin when you pop the question; you don't want to hear a "kerplunk!" as the ring drops in the water after someone fumbles it! (Did you read the story the other day where a fellow proposed to his girlfriend when they were on the Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls and she fell off the rocks and had to be rescued by helicopter? She did say yes, but that was a little toooo dramatic...lol).

Oh! I know! Tell me the time and place, and I will pop out of the bushes with my camera and record the event for posterity... lol!

For the love of godz, don't walk round the Mall at night with a diamond ring! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLzzzzz..or the very next post will be one from you about the lucky mugger!

Why don't you do this at the lovely restaurant? Get a specially good table, tip the maitre a $20 (or depending how fabulous it is maybe a $50) and do it in the best possible spot!

I love a good engagement story! Come round when the deed's done and tell all!

Best!
