I quite like going to plays (spiiting distance of actors to see their faces) concerts, jazz & blues bands – usual suspects. I usually buy 2 tickets. For some affirs I buy seasosn tickets or when initaily relased to get better seats. Its a long term habbit. When with a particualraly delkightful but problamatic partner, I’d nit to know if we’d be “in synch” next day let alone a few months hence. But I get tickets assuming if I didn’t go with her, there would be someone else. Of occasion my sons have edured outtimes in good grace (and sometimes enjoyed themseves)

Anyway, in recent times there has been no one particuar in my life. But I still buy two tickets. I still find there is always someone to take along. Although recently I sat on a couple of tickets to an all girl performance of the Taming of the Shrew. The theratre was a long way- away, and it was mid week. I hadn’t really ask ed anyone until a couple of days before hand. My middle son was lamenting that he was on “stand by.”

Not unsurpriningly I went through 5~6 names with no takers. But I was bemused in that only number 4 objected to being, well 4th, and only asked at 4pm when the performance started at 8pm. And that was more because she couldn’t change her own plans at such short noitice. No’s 2,3 & 5 seemed pleased to have been askjed. No 6 was just not at “his” desk. An ameture actor at work whom I thought of at the last moment. He told me he would have be “in.”

But as I said, almost every other time I’ve found “dates” often at short notice (due to my hoping to take someone esle) Oh, this mad caped social planning has the sid beifit, in that when looking for a polite way to disenaged from someone, having them turn you down for what is an irratic inviation, is the perfect excuse to wind up the phone/e-mail thing, with little bother.

Thus, be optomistic. Always buy 2 tickets to what ever you want to see or do.

I always buy two tickets for concerts in the hope there's someone I can go with. This year I went once on my own which was no fun at all as everyone else were either in couples or a group of friends. I had 2 tickets for George Michaels last concert in London, ended up giving the tickets away as I didn't want to go alone. I had 2 tickets for Tina Turners concert in London, they ended up in the bin (trash), again because I didn't want to go alone. Right now I've got 2 tickets for a Toby Keith concert in London in November, we'll see if I am lucky this time.

*jumps up and down waving with both hands*
We just saw Toby Keith a few weeks ago with Trace Atkins. Awesome. She had never been to a country concert before and was greatly surprised. Next month we're going to see Zack Brown.

I had four tickets to a recent event and was only using two, so I went to the event and sold the other two for face value (they were discounted).
I used to travel on my own rather than not travel. I always met people that were happy to hang out with me and I always had a great time!

BTW- don't miss Toby

There's a production of 'A Chorus Line' opening in my city next week. If they sold advance tickets I'd buy two and then ask someone to go saying "I have two tickets to...how'd you like to come with me?" They don't sell advance tickets...so I'll just stick with asking a woman if she likes the theater and go from there.

Actually, fun and interesting things to do have really served me well in the past for dates. That way...part of the attraction of the date is the fun event, not just jayjay. ; ) There was a great Germany woman I dated last year who commented to me that while she may have been a little hesitant about going out with me (I won't get into the reasons why) each time I asked her out she just found it too hard to resist. We ended up becoming very close, though she later had to move away.
