There are plenty of threads about dates that went south so maybe it's time to start a thread about dates that were especially fun. Surely we've all had a few and could find one to tell about.

One of my all-time most memorable Fun dates was when I was dating a woman who lived in a rented farmhouse with her 7-year-old son. We got along great and her son and I were very close. My birthday is in mid-September and she invited me out for a birthday picnic. She had grilled burgers and hot dogs ahead of time and we spread a tablecloth out on the lawn and had a combination picnic/Yatzee tournament - frequently interrupted by their year-old Labrador puppy, "Ben". Weather was beautiful Midwestern Fall weather and we had a blast.
After dark we all went out under the stars with big bowls of vanilla ice cream smothered in nuts and Hershey's chocolate syrup, and listened to the owls calling in a nearby woodlot. Later we put her son to bed, I strummed a couple tunes for him on my guitar, and then she and I ended up falling asleep close beside each other on the front porch swing. A million dollars to have that birthday over again.

Let's hear 'em

To be entirely honest, and while I am young and naive, I have only had one bad date. All the other dates that i remember have been really lovely.

I can't pick just one single best date, but I can think of two that have been very memorable. One over a year ago and one very recent.

The one over a year ago was with my ex on her birthday, I have told this one before here. I surprised her with taking her to Austin for Rocky Horror Picture Show Midnight showing. Before the show we ate at Magnolia Cafe. She wore this really cute black dress, and I will never forget the smile on her face.

Alas, fast foward, she is out of my life and I ended up meeting another nice girl. I don't think I will forget The Cult concert from this last weekend. It was truly an amazing show. Also, how it came about was really a funny story. I am sure I mentioned it here before, but she had tweeted that The Cult was playing in Austin and she was hoping to get to go. I asked her if she was going with anyone, she said no, and so I asked her if she wanted to go with me, she said sure, I said great because I have two tickets.

If you ever go to Austin, YOU MUST go to Stubb's for excellent BBQ and a pint of Live Oak Hefe Weizen.

My absolute Best date went somethin like this:

Dressed to kill in my black skirt and turquoise blouse with my hair curled jus so an them oh so sexy 3" high heels I drove over to my SO's place where he met me at the door with 2 roses in his hand (that was the first time I ever gotten flowers from someone and I felt so special) He then drove us to dinner at a nice italian resturant, ya know with the cloth table cloths and the wine menu and candle light an all.
He asked for a table in the corner where there wasnt many people around and it felt like magic. Our first Real Date after bein together for about 3 months. I mean we always were hangin at each other's house an we'd done group get togethers an such but this was jus the 2 of us (an it was romantic like an everything!)
So we had dinner an conversation, he wanted dessert so we shared my first tiramisu (an I was on cloud NINE! I mean I'd never had someone treat me like this. I wanted to pinch myself an make sure that it was real!) lol
Then we went to a movie (not so romantic with all the action an stuff bein blown to smitherines on screen but it was fun anyway )

Then back to his place for some cuddlin on the couch an yea that was the Absolute Best date I've ever had. It made me feel so special with him payin for dinner, an buyin me roses and showin affection and jus everything! It was awesome. Fairy tale junk right there.

Been so long...

The first night we went to dinner. I went to work the next day and told my friends I had met the man who would become my first lover after my divorce.

The second date I think we went to the movies, then back to his house and played chess. At one point he stood close to me and I could hardly breathe. I left. All the way home I fought the urge to go back. That night I knew I was in love with him.

It wasn't so much what we did. It was the breathless anticipation I felt at surrendering to my destiny. Thank God we married, or I'd have been lost forever...

I think it's fruit that grows on palm trees in the desert. Been awhile since I had one too.
