OMG....I just read the post about " For smart women only" perhaps the title should have read, " For Paranoid women only"! My God, I could not believe what I read! That post was not about "smart" women, it was about paranoid, non-confident, women that have more time on their hands then they know what to do with!!
What ever happened to human instinct, your gut feeling? This business about "background checks" makes me laugh. First of all the costs involved are prohibitive to most, the accuracy or inaccuracy of what you receive is always suspect! But then again, I guess there are alot of so-called private investigation firms that are making alot of money off of paranoid people's back!!
There is that old saying, "If it does not feel right, then don't do it!".." If it looks too good to be true, then it is!"......
Oy! I am still realing over what I read!! Let's get real here! As adults with at least somewhat of a good sense of judgement, we should all be able to distinquish between "Real and Fake" without the fanfare of background checks etc... !!

Don't know if you've seen it, but there is an active thread on the background check topic here: http://advice.eharmony.com/boards/da...und-check.html (When to do a background check?)

Yeah, but speaking to no one in particular of either gender, does that mean one has to read the related thread??

No; of course not...lol. You (no matter what your gender) don't have to read any thread you don't wish to, whether related to the topic or not...

But, if a topic particularly interests you, you might wish to read other active threads on the same or a closely related topic.

Men who provide their real full names as soon as you exchange personal emails are a lot easier to get to know than those who don't.

Some peoples' gut feelings don't work for them. We've all seen the threads where the OP is head over heels in love and we're all horrified by the situation they've found themselves in.

Even more serious, there are murderers, psychopaths, and sociopaths that appear perfectly normal to their potential victims. Not saying any of them haunt these threads, we hope!

I can't believe all victims are too stupid to trust their instincts. I just think some people are more gullible than others. While I may never feel the need to run a background check on somebody, I can't really disapprove of those who do. It's their business to do what they think best, isn't it?

Bottom line, we could all find things to disapprove about others, if we so choose. As they could about us. I don't see how that helps. Pick your battles; save it for the big stuff!

Women who wish to get to know every square inch of me can call me whatever they'd like.

I'll answer.

Excuse me? I was just stating an opinion, I was not attacking anyone, unlike you with that comment!! Don't put a post up saying " Only for smart women"...and not expect some other opinions stated. There are all sorts of idiots and rather non-human beings out there, and not just on the boards!.......What I was expressing was that in most cases, your "gut" can tell you what is right from wrong! That's it that' all! So get off of your soap box!

LMAO!

And this is why some people should not trust their gut. Maybe it is just acid reflux???
