Ok, so we're not 21 anymore. We've gained a few pounds since those days and we know it but we enjoy a full social life and whilst we're not slaves to the gym we still scrub up ok.

Seriously how much extra are you ok with?

a dress size? two dress sizes? the size of two dresses?

Come on be honest, is weight as big an issue as we women fear it may be. Let us know quick so we can eat that last cup cake .... or not.

Go ahead and eat the cup cake. No matter how slim or not you may be there is a guy out there that is going to be attracted to you.

I suspect that most guys are just a clueless as I am on womens dress sizes. All I know is that the smaller the number the smaller (slimmer) the woman. Unless it is obvious from your photos or you have stated that you are 5'0" and weigh 200 lbs then I will determine if you look appealing to ME when we meet. It also is important of where you carry the extra weight.

I will say that if you are similar in height to me and outweigh me by more than 20 lbs then you are likely to be too heavy for me.

Everyone has their own tastes and attention to body image. Your attention to your body and how well you've taken care of it will likely match the men who would potentially date you.

So if you've taken good care of yourself and your body, you can expect to date men who have done the same, if that is an important quality to you. On the opposite end, if you have not taken care of yourself and just kind of let yourself go watching reality TV and eating cheese puffs, you can expect a man with a similar level of interest to himself and his body image.

Fuller figured ladies. I would say if the man doesn't like your figure- find a man who does. I have dated ladies of all body types, and us chaps who like the fuller figured lady as well as the thinner ones just get more choice than the more size fixated males. We get to know lovely women the other chaps miss out on.

On the other side of the fence, IMHO it is just as shallow if a lady won't date a man because he is 1" below her specified height range or is bald.

My personal rule of thumb is if I can physically lift her off the ground then she's fine!

YOU ARE SOOOO COOOOL JOHNNYGUITARMAN!!!

I don't think simply being overweight is a dealbreaker - unless we're talking 100 lbs. overweight or something. Even at that, I have a young friend who is at least 60lbs. overweight but she is very active and very nice, very extroverted and men are usually standing in line to go out with her

I think it has more to do with the person's ability to do things, and probably their personality too. Anyone can be overweight and still active and interested in doing active things.
It's the person who is too out of shape to do anything but sit at the fudge store and plan which Italian restuarant they want to go to for supper (or breakfast) that is a turn off for me.

I agree with this.

I also agree with the point of questioning why you want to know "what you can get away with." I do not strive to meet someone's minimum standards but to be the best I can be. I do not think we need to be supermodels...and I do not believe in dieting/exercising for someone else. You need to be healthy for you. Over dieting/exercising is not healthy but balance is good.

I love how instead of setting standards for women, men tend to lower their standards in order not to upset anyone.

So what you're saying is, if a woman doesn't meet your standard, all you have to do is go do weight-lifting exercises until you build yourself up to her level?

Amusing! So, do you think that it's up to men to "set standards for women" so women can know how to be acceptable humans?

I think what he meant was that we men have an ideal in our mind (our standard) for what we find attractive. Then some of us tend to say what pleases women even though we don't really believe or act that way in real life. It's a well-documented phenomenon.

This door swings both ways.

Women set standards for men as well. Standard for income, quality of life, social status, and and how much influence man have in his surroundings.

You ever noticed that most beautiful attractive women date influential and powerful men?

Not a coincidence.

So if a woman wants to score desirable men (and not necessarily just rich), she better have presentable look and intelligence.

Being fat and obese is UNHEALTHY. End of story.

But if woman is slightly overweight, or average, she'll date similar men: average, or slightly below average.

It's sad that United States has such high overweight percentage.
