Well, it was not exactly a date, but since we live several states apart, a four and a half hour conversation was close enough to one for me this past Saturday night.
That counts in my book. Assuming it was a GOOD conversation, which based on your smile and the fact that it was four and a half hours, I think that's a safe assumption.

Any plans to meet "IRL", to use a trendy thread acronym?

Had a second date with an EH match; he lives 100 miles away but I visit family in that city a couple weekends each month. First date was in June at a museum; had a very nice time, but we had lunch in the chi chi museum restaurant and split the lunch tab ($80! )

Since then I had just purchased a bike, and told him I needed to buy accessories, and he suggested we go shopping at a bike store he knew. So I went to his home, and we walked down the neighborhood about six blocks to a very ethnic hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. But he didn't have enough $ to pay my lunch! ! !

Then we drove over to the bike store. He displayed his manly bike expertise as we shopped for locks, inner tubes, tire patch kits, bike pumps, racks and panniers. He even squeezed my toe space when I tried on bike shoes -- !

Afterward, we had some excellent coffee at this independent, highly-regarded coffee shop. He bought me a pound of coffee to make up for not paying for lunch. (I guess he did feel badly after all about not having the cash at the time... )

As it turns out, my bike pump got left behind at the bike store, so I called him yesterday, and he agreed to pick it up and I will see him again in a couple weeks. So there will be a third date soon...

Wow, sounds like it went really well! I had a similar thing happen to me this weekend, when we got to the film festival the tickets were cash only so my friend had to pick them up because I had no cash on me (I'm totally Debit Mastercard Girl) even though I had told him that tix were on me since he was driving out (he lives about 50 miles away).

I bought lunch to make up for it! Some people are just taken aback / unprepared for a "cash only" scenario

Keep us posted on how date number three goes!

396? Muncie? Two door or four? Bench or take em out for buckets?

I liked the '70 Olds 442, two door, bench. Took the hills of Virginia real nice, and made this deep purring sound on idle that just made you feel good.

Sometimes you think you're going somewhere for one thing, and you get the gift of another.

Went out with friends to celebrate buddy coming off the layoff list, which was a blast. Wasn't a date, but was the highlight of the weekend.

Dates: very nice breakfast with someone I met online, and was a totally relaxed and enjoyable time.

Hmmmm. I think I just said something....
The car at the show was a 396 / 350 hp, auto, buckets, gauges....a nice car. The owner told me it could be mine if I wanted. So I played and asked him how much. 46k was his reply. I politely told him it was a nice car thinking that this guy just smoked his dinner as the car was nice, but no beauty.

Dream car is a 454 LS6 4spd, 4.11 rears, buckets, gauges, with a little nos hidden in the trunk. Ragtop would be nice but not necessary. I might eventually try doing (finishing) a prostreet El Camino with a 540 and an 871. Still have the motor hard parts (sans blower) along with a wicked narrow (that will fit 15x15 wheels) Ford 9" and pumpkin with a Lenco locker rated for 1000hp.

Sorry....got me all warm here.....

The Olds sounds great and that purring sounds sooo...you.
