So I just went on a date with a wonderful girl on Monday. We went to a festival that includes lots of multicultural kinds of food and we also went on a paddle boat ride. I feel the date went well and we had good communication, very similar interests, and I didn't make her feel pressured to do anything. At the end she said she loved the date and that she had a lot of fun and would be texting me back (yeah, that's what our age group does I guess) later on in the week to plan for a second date.

Within 24 hours I sent her a message using BlackBerry messenger saying that I really had a great time on the date and I'm looking forward to hearing from her again. It said that she received the message but she didn't reply to it. Not really a big deal to me since I know she's fairly busy with life and she did message me once the day after. Yesterday (Wednesday) I gave her a phone call and of course, I got her voicemail so I left a short message asking if she was free this weekend and for her to get back to me by then.

Now I am wondering if I should send her a message (and maybe bait her to call by cutting off the end of my sentence? ) or call her again or just let her do the contacting if she is interested since the ball is in her court. I am not really into dating games at all and prefer a more straightforward approach when it comes to communication. Obviously if she is not interested then I would prefer for her to just tell me so I can move on with life.

Any advice?

I do hope that you're joking with that....or else that you're 15 years old. If I were you I wouldn't contact her at all for a week. If I hadn't heard from her at that time I'd trying calling once more....then that would be it.

you sound like you really like her, so give her about 24 hours to call you back. maybe call her one more time (try friday for a saturday or sunday date) and if she doesnt call you back i wouldnt bother from there.

For someone who claims to not be into games, you sure would be playing one here, "ha ha" or not. Give me a break.

Unfortunately, some people just don't have the social grace to bother to say they are not interested, and they allow silence to be their messenger. You have one of two options: take jayjay's advice, which is good btw, or just move on. Don't play games.

I'd also say this: When I am interested in a man, I make the time to contact him or to return his calls, no matter how busy I am.

I was kidding about the game. That's why I put the ha ha. Maybe I should have put an emoticon as well?

Anyway, I'm just wondering if the week break would be good or if I should follow Nanette's advice and call Friday to attempt to set something up for Sat/Sun. I know some girls would prefer getting called sooner than later whereas other ones value their personal space so I'm a little torn here.

I agree. And it would take less time to send you a text message back than to make a phone call and have a conversation to let you know yay or nay to another date - so her being busy is not the reason she has not contacted you.

If you do not get a call by early this evening then call her once more. If no return call forget her and move on. Good luck

So just leave another message referencing her not getting back to my message (in a nice, non-guilt tripping way of course)?

You already left a message for her to get back to you. I wouldn't call at all.

Common courtesy, it cost nothing and is priceless.

If i say i'm going to call then i call, and there are damn good reasons for it beyond it simply being the right thing to do. I don't like to leave people hanging, i've been there often enough myself and a few words is all it takes for both parties to either let them close it down in their minds or start thinking about where to go next..
Also no matter how well or how badly i think a date went i don't know how the other person thought it went, well unless i set her on fire at the table or something. You don't have to deconstruct the thing but it's always nice to see if you read things right or not.
