I've been sitting around bored tonight and I started thinking of some of my X's. Fond memories and some not so fond. It then occured to me to ask a question that I've asked some of my close friends. Since this is the internet and all.... I figured I may finally get my question answered....

The question is this: "Have you ever had your girlfriend propose to you?"

I know..some of you are probably spitting out your beer or having it run through your nose now. Seriously though. Anyone out there had this happen to you?

And if it did and you......... told her it was too soon.. Did the relationship end abruptly?

Just curious if any other of my male comrades experienced the same thing.

I had an ex who wanted the whole marriage thing with me. She never came out and proposed, but she would drop hints like crazy. The relationship didn't end abruptly, but it did get me thinking about whether that's something I wanted with her. Since she's an ex...I guess the answer was no...

I have never been asked to marry a woman but have had a couple ask me to have children with them.

Do you think it had something to do with current male/female salary trends and affirmative action?

One gal after two years in a LDR came to my house and asked me are we getting married? It caught me off guard and I said let me think about it. Five days later I saw her and said yes and she said she was seeing someone on the side and was going to marry him. Then I said why did you ask me? She said well I wanted to give you the first chance.

The last thing she said to me was if you really loved me you would be happy for me because I found true love. That to this day that line blows my mind.

To this day I say no to LDR.

I have essentially the same experience as CharlesMD ... lots of hints and obliquely raising the issue.

Interesting! Since you are on that topic.. do you (guys) drop hints before proposing to make sure she will say yes, or do you do it in lines with what Edmondo's girl did, out of the blue??

Probably not. Just throw it out there and see what happens. I would probably make sure I could return the ring just in case .

Wow! She's nuts! LOL

Some women want to get married or have childeren because they think it will 'complete' them in one way or another. Unfortunately, once they get their wish and find out they still have this empty 'void' with in them they take it out on their partner... and many times end in divorce..
