So I was talkng to one of my matches last night for the first time by phone, we had been emailing through eHa for about a month, she seems like a very nice person, one thing came up in the discussion that I had not known about before, she loves anime, I asked her why she hadn't mentioned it on her profile or in any of her emails, she replied that she was worried that people would look down on her because she liked it. Not a problem with me as I have a few anime/manga series that I am a huge fan of, so I saw it as a plus, but it did get me wondering if a lot of people omit certain interests and hobbies they have because they are worried that people they are matched with will look down on them for it.

So do any of you guys have any interests you hide from your matches at least at first?

I'm not embarassed about any of my interests, however I don't list all in my profile - that would be too much.

I actually do not disclose my ultimate passion/hobby until later because most men will pander to it and see it as an easy "in" with me and that annoys the daylights out of me - they are barking up the wrong tree....lol... Anyway, to avoid that I'll disclose a few dates down the road once he is more comfortable with me and we've established interests that are genuinely shared.

It would be pretty hard for me to hide my interests / hobbies since I have none.

Did I mention that I love to drink wine by the fire and take long walks on the beach?

I have a hobby or two that I don't mention in my EH profile. Not because I'm embarrassed about it but rather it's MY thing. They are things my SO doesn't need to be involved with for me to be happy and the hobbies have no impact on her.

I love to go to night clubs, but don't mention it anywhere. I don't want to give the impression that I'm a 'party girl'. Those days are long gone, but I still like to hit the clubs now and then.

I frequently play in Magic: the Gathering tournaments all over the place. I don't go out of my way to hide it (virtually impossible given travel to events and such), but it's surely not the first thing I mention to my matches. It's humorous to hear reactions to it when the subject first comes up, though. "Oh, cool--can you make me levitate?"
