I do too, I'm going there for the Gathering 2009 (google it if you're interested in ancestry! ); once in a lifetime chance, hoo boy! I also want to see my clan's various lands and castles before Trump turns all of Aberdeenshire into a darned golf course
Okay, now I am seriously jealous. And my vacation is coming up near that weekend, too- if I wasn't so broke from rebuilding my car, I would so be there. I'm half Moray by my mother's father's line, by the way, so I've studied up a bit on my personal ancestry (I also have some neat English ancestors that didn't have to pay taxes, too!).

I hadn't heard about Aberdeenshire yet, but I can't say I'm surprised. English land politicking never changes. Too bad the Trumps of today can't be fought off with swords and axes.

When you go, take pictures and bring them back for us, hey? If I can't go, I'd love to see it at least second hand. *grin*

YES BE JEALOUS! XD No but seriously, I found out about this right as I found the cheapest tickets to Edinburgh I've ever seen in my life on expedia, so I snagged them, got a cheap B&B room and bought my tickets to the festival all in one day. My vacation time started RIGHT that week, so to me, it was a sign. "get thine arse homeward."

I'm an Irvin myself. Yes The Camera will probably be strained to bursting with pictures, and if you like I'll stop by the Moray tent while I'm meandering the festival (they're supposed to have each clan setting up sort of a gathering tent so that people with similar ancestry can all...well, gather there and talk and eat and get drunk, etc) and drop a hello for you!

aka, it sucks, LOL.

BUT I'm going to Scotland in July! Something awesome to look forward to, at least! (and lots of men in kilts!)
Just keep in mind that you may not understand a single word of what they have to say, while dressed in those kilts. But then again, something tells me that you are not exactly looking for conversation at this stage...

Two EH dates this summer: one guy was seriously deranged (I've diagnosed him with borderline personality disorder), which made the second EH guy look delightfully normal and stable, even though he was a little dull and hasn't called me back. I think it's time to take a break from dating.

A trip to the northern California coast near Mendocino, for a reunion with close friends from college.

Had a great 4th of July weekend in southern California, hanging out with friends, eating barbeque, watching fireworks off the beach.

Picking tomatoes, squash, fruits and flowers from my victory garden.

Looking forward to a summer of running, bike riding, swimming and getting my scuba certification!

Yes I bloody well WILL! *grin* That would be terribly kind of you, lass, and tell them all their distant melungeon relations from Appalachia say hi, and we'd send moonshine if the durn customs men wouldnae drink it all afore it gets to ye. If fortune smiles and the festival survives in some form or fashion, I *will* be there some day in the future.

As for you... indeed, git thine arse in gear, and hie thee homeward good lassie. Raise a glass for me while you're there too- heck, raise a few for yourself first, but don't forget family and distant relations of all Scots. I daresay while our bodies abide over here, our hearts will be with you on the green. Safe travels, and I'll hold you to those pictures! *grin*

Arrived in my new city and apartment yesterday after a 30 hour drive (over 2 days). Before that I spent 3 days camping in the rain and cold that was supposed to be NY in July. Now I'm in a climate more to my liking....and getting my apt. and life set up here. Over the last few weeks I've been occasionally emailing with a few women from my new city....but just don't feel any spark or real interest in meeting up with any of them.

That was the only right answer.
And you have a choice of 2 prizes to pick from:
1. 9 months supply of your favorite flavor of Ice Cream
2. A trip to the Moon in cyberspace

Im beginning to think that you have an ultimate fantasy which involves being licked and the "ice cream" front is how you extend this to the rest of us.

Oh, right...it is summer. Oh carp!!! It is summer! It is July 8th and I have not started one of my plans yet.

The goals are to get the mind and body in shape.

For my mind - I have some book recommendations from a very intelligent poster on here. His brain blows me away. So I asked him to be my cerebral coach and he graciously accepted my request. Probably should order those books sometime before the summer ends.

For my body - The call is in to the hypnotist for an appointment so I will quit smoking and starting this weekend, I need to do a run and increase the run by one mile each week to be ready for a marathon at the end of October.

As for starting to date again, I think my heart is there but I would much prefer my body was there too so I think the summer is mine for now. I just hope I claim it as my own.

Happy Summer!!!
