so much talk here about men wanting a pretty women, and even so many men responding that, yes, they want a pretty women!!!!

it really makes me curious about something.

go to the food store and look around, go to the mall and look around.
what percent of the women you see are really pretty women.
then look at all the couples you see together in your neighborhood and the 20 blocks near your home.

very few really pretty women in the food store. very few really pretty women within a 20 block range. average looking, yes. ok looking, yes. but not so many really pretty. yet these women have relationships and husbands and men that really love them and only want to be with them.

how does this happen then, how do they find love if it is so important to a man to have a really pretty women??
just something to think about. (by the way, i dont like this confused face because it looks more like a sad face than a confused face).

It all depends on how an individual defines beauty. I have a thing for noses, necks, height and crow's feet. Each person has their own definition of what is or isn't attractive.

Maybe they need a new dating service where all the short bald men that women don't want can meet up with the obese unattractive women the men don't want. Only half kidding, I guess... but a thought.

It happens because in reality outside of these discussion boards, neither men nor women have much control over who they find physically attractive (it's largely biochemical although there are some psychological factors as well, which is where beauty standards do play a minor role). We see correlations and turn them into causations because we really do not like to admit that we have no control in the matter.

It also happens because most normal people are mainly attracted to how their partner makes them feel about themselves, rarely what they look like or how much money they have (those 2 factors only play a very minor role in the attraction process). Of course there are deviant behaviours that place abnormal emphasis on one of the minor factors, but they are exceptions, not rules.

My favourite movie quote comes from As Good As It Gets, when Jack Nicholson's character comes up with the best compliment on the planet "You make me want to be a better man". This is the true power of attraction, not looks or money.

There are some people who expect so much in a potential mate that they are unlikely to actually find such a person and get into a relationship with her or him. The people we see around town who are in relationships are not among this group....while among the single (such as on this forum) there's a higher percentage of those with such 'high standards'. This can be one reason for your observation.

Another thing is when we all say we want someone with certain qualities we're thinking in the abstract. We probably don't take into consideration that someone may have certain other qualities that might knock us off our feet and make us forget about their lack of beauty or other qualities we think about in the abstract.

Hilarious ! Who knows what's attractive, matter of taste.I have seen facial Rings & Things that some people think is attractive, go figure ? By the way does anyone find the Rings &Things in the face attractive? As far as the weight thing, again you need to find someone who finds your wieght attractive, and forget what "most men" want

Did somebody beat your neighborhood with an ugly stick? I see plenty of "pretty women" and people in general around, and that's not even counting the ones who's spouse/partner obviously thinks they're pretty and I may not.
