If a person is really hot, someone of the same gender may give a lower rating out of spite.

I typed in your eHA screen name on P0F and a guy's profile came up.

Personally, it reminds me of middle school. "Do you like me? Yes or No (circle one)"

I have no experience with this, but if it were on a dating site I was using, I would definitely be experimenting with different photos to see what was favored.

anyone who rates a person based on looks alone is a narrow minded moron

When I was on plentyoffish, I averaged about 7.5. I got a lot of 10s and 9s from the men and 3s and 4s from the ladies.

It didn't change my perception of myself at all. I like who I am and I am perfectly happy with my face and figure. What a bunch complete strangers think of me does not make one iota of difference. My SO thinks I'm the most beautiful woman in the world and that means more to me than anything. He didn't rate my picture, for which I will be eternally grateful. The beauty in me that is most important to him is on the inside. He says that makes me more beautiful on the outside too.

If the purpose for someone asking to have a photo rated is to try and find the photo that will attract the most people to a profile, that's one thing. If someone's self esteem is going to be affected by the results, then I say, don't do it. If you can handle the results with the same objectivity as you would any scientific experiment, great.

People will rate high or low for different reasons often unrelated to your looks - having a bad day, for example.

It is a good way to test pictures.

But, is it a way to meet someone? I thinking less about POF than Hot or Not, which is 95% about pictures. It's funny yet sad, to see what people will do to get a 9. I suppose two vain people might find happiness until age and botox bills catch up.
