Why is it acceptable for men to want 'pretty' women, but not for women to want wealthy men

Yes, much better to dispense with illusion and develop some real beauty. That way you get to wake up and it’s already there.

Just like me!
Of course I wasn't referring to myself...

BTW, frogs aren't exactly known for their beauty. I'm sure your talents lie elsewhere.

Here is what men don't understand - to women, a man with money means SECURITY.

]Double standard? The issue isn't that women like men for their money, it's that they LIE about it and say it doesn't matter.

Men will openly say they are attracted to beautiful women.

Another thing women lie about is not being interested in beautiful men. I actually believe women are far more shallower than men are. Even though as the OP demonstrates there is this belief that men only care about appearances.

Men don't spend billions on fashion magazines and are hardly obsessed with appearances as women are.

And I think men are more willing to settle for some gal in a baseball cap than some woman is for a man in one.

It's not a double standard. Men just want women to be honest. If you like men for money then so be it, say so. Don't pretend to be superior by saying it doesn't matter.[/QUOTE]

I think you might be mistaken, at least where many women are concerned. I, for one, would probably not even consider dating a gorgeous guy, because I would expect that he's full of himself, egotistical and always on the lookout for the next woman-though maybe that's not fair. But I've never known a really good looking guy who didn't take advantage of his looks. While you may well see a pretty woman with a balding, shorter guy and wonder what in the world the attraction is for her, you rarely see it the other way around - an attractive guy with a ugly woman. I think, and being a woman I tend to think with a woman's point of view, that woman learn to look past the physical beauty of a guy to try to see what's inside. Is he kind? Does he love her children? Does he hold down a job? And despite feminism and it being the age it is, woman still do want to be taken care of, but most of us are willing to take care of our man, too. Looks fade for most of us, so what's inside really is the only thing that truly matters.

One is based on attraction whereas the other is based on money. Pretty to one person may not be pretty to another, but ten million dollars to one person is still ten million dollars to another.

Ya gotta be kiddin’ me. *grin* Money *is* different to different people. Ten million dollars might be money to you, but to me…
"Money is what you take to the grocery store. Money is what you get out of the ATM.
Ten million dollars is not money. It’s a motive with a universal adapter on it."
My last job, I worked for people who changed Hummers and Mercedes like some people buy new underwear. These things were worth less to them than they would be to me. They didn’t take care of their expensive things because they could always buy new when the old got trashy. Ten million to these folks might not have been chump change, but it was more like a line on their tax return, not a lifetime of labor.
And that quote is from a movie I saw about ten years ago. I’d say that whatever you want is whatever you want- if you put restrictions on what you want- money, cats, beauty, or education- then your prospective pool of matches shrinks. And you may just not measure up based on *their* restrictions. Accept the consequences of what you’re doing and smile. Maybe you find what you want, maybe you don’t- and your requirements for a match *will* affect that, whatever they are. It’s okay to have these requirements! If we don’t try to change other people we can keep seeking joy on our own terms- then everybody’s happy. *grin*

wootz good post: the funniest part is the richest dudes that I've met feel that most woman are whores and they know why their getting dug; they just accept it as part of the territory. Just take what their offering and throwem out when their done. The idiocy is amusing.

I hate to sound like a jerk but that's just reality.

Tradition:- the male as dominator ..power attracts and power gets what it desires.... we are programmed by society as to what is desireable and what is not .. if you happened to live in Nigeria and wiegh 350lbs you'd be the hot star of the show, as the wieght would mean you are living well ..(having enough access to food to grow rotund) .. Marilyn Monroe archetypes types simply are symbols of fertility ... double standards have ALWAYS existed and are not going away just yet .. as in nature..the strong and dominant survive.. equality is a wonderful ideal .. but will never is exist when competition is encouraged and celebrated ... We'd like to believe that life is fair ..but that would be an illusion..
