On average have you guys/gals been disappointed with looks when you've met someone from EH offline for the first time? Has the difference been so significant where you found a person attractive in his/her pictures and they were actually unattractive in person?

I have not had experience of people being worse than their photos indicated (though I suppose my age group is less likely to use outdated pictures.

My experience had been that my matches are better looking in person than in their pictures.

most of mine look the same or better in person. Most common disappointment would be the few men who lie about height (its obvious...and sometimes I forgive it soemtimes not) and often men will be slighter in person than they are in pictures.

Some have looked far better though.

I wouldn't say worse -- but I have had some who looked different.

In some cases, these were minor differences -- i.e. showed up with glasses and facial hair they didn't have in the photos. Frequently, I've had dates show up looking quite a bit older than their pics.

My most recent date -- I actually walked by the guy because I didn't realize it was him -- he'd shaved his head and grown facial hair. But really no major complaints (in this case, I liked his look better than in his photos!)

yes, it always takes me a minute to adjust...because they almost always look "different" I attribute this more to how we fill in the blanks if we only see a few pictures than to deception.

I have also had the changes...some had glasses, some less or ore facial hair, etc.

Funny you should ask...I met a guy in February that I had been talking to since before Christmas...he lived in Oklahoma and I'm from Indiana...we had great conversations and I thought he would be alot of fun....well he showed up and hadn't had his hair cut in I don't know how long...his picture was showing his hair as being in a short military style...very disappointed and the chemistry we had during our conversations was nowhere to be found when we actually met in person...I felt really bad since he had drove so far (his idea) so I tried to make the best of it but it was a long and difficult weekend...

I find that most people tend to look somewhat different in photos than real life - neither better nor worse, just different.

I have yet to meet a match...but what I have done is put up pics with and without me wearing make-up, so the day that I do meet a match I will be somewhat covered on both ends
