It looks like I missed my window of opportunity with online dating this spring. In my experience, it seems like everyone is starting out the new year in the spring scrambling to find a partner. Then when the summer hits - nada! My online hits really slow down to a crawl every summer.

It seems to pick up in the fall again when everyone is done with their summer romances. I think dating in the fall and Christmas is dangerous because it seems a lot of people are on the rebound then or feeling desperate/lonely. I rarely have had luck in the fall.

Does anyone else experience this ? It has always been very slow every summer for me with online dating. If I haven't met someone by mid to late May, it's usually over for the year.

It seems like mid January to mid May is prime dating season.

I had some very painful, close calls this spring that suddenly failed. I met an unusually high amount of flakes this spring via online dating.

I have not been doing this dating thing for all that long but when I started in October of 2007 I did find that there seemed to be a lot of activity (not with me) of girls looking to be dating someone for the holidays. After New Years had passed then I saw some activity once again by the same girls that had ended their search in the fall. I am not certain that I actually saw any lack of activity during the summer though I can well understand that people would be looking to pair up in the spring looking to have a partner for summer activities.

I live in an area that is big enough to provide matches all year long... Perhaps size does really matter...

We're barely out of winter in good ole Saskatchewan, so I still have some time left, I guess! Of course, I just posted my profile on POF a couple of weeks ago and I wasn't on eHarmony very long, so I'm new at this and haven't noticed any trends yet.

I have been going on a lot of dates lately though . . .

I never noticed a seasonal cyclicality (except a slowdown in activity around December, presumptively due to family / holiday busyness.)

If you are right, perhaps some tweaking of your profile and style can exploit the changing moods of your matches?

Last spring & summer were quite eventful for me & I really better have a repeat performance.

Fall was just OK & winter was pretty horrendous.

I better be a long, prosperous, & fun summer.

Well it's not even Memorial Day yet, plenty of time Flakes and On-Line dating? Season doesn't matter, they're like peanut butter and jelly.
