LOL...you're kidding. right? (sorry all...NY/NJ/CT rivalry here!)

But seriously, my favorite place for a date is The Village, or Tribeca/SoHo arts area. I love bistros, jazzclubs, and great art! (and you may get a peek at DeNiro strolling, if you're lucky!

Hey folks, there's a good reason why the bridges and tunnels connecting NY and NJ only charge to go into the city, while going to NJ is absolutely free! Sorry, D_Lion, I just couldn't resist that!

In Manhattan, there are the museums (Met, MOMA, Natural History, and Guggenheim.)

Central Park is a nice picturesque place to stroll or enjoy a picnic lunch - especially near Bethesda Fountain (mid-park near 72 Street). Just west of the Fountain is another romantic spot - the cast iron Bow Bridge. Belvedere Castle (Mid-Park at 79th Street) is like a piece of a fairytale that was somehow deposited in Manhattan. A visit there will make you forget that you're even in the city. The nearby Turtle Pond offers a nice place to sit and talk while completely surrounded by nature.

My favorite Manhattan restaurants - I'm biased toward the Upper East Side because that's where I lived and went to school for several years:

Dallas BBQ - NYC's best! Inexpensive burgers, chicken, ribs, and huge frozen drinks
Cafe Mingala - NYC Restaurant - MenuPages Burmese Restaurant Search Inexpensive Burmese/Malaysian
Best Mexican Food North of the Border Inexpensive Mexican food
Blue Moon Mexican Cafe 1444 1st Ave New York, NY 10021 Inexpensive Mexican
SPICE Thai Restaurant : Chelsea Inexpensive Thai food
New York Indian Restaurants, Chola Eclectic Indian Cuisine Restaurant, Top Rated Indian Restaurants in New York, Manhattan, NY Authentic Indian buffet
ESPRESSOS CAFFE NEW YORK (Formerly Angel's) Italian
Il Vagabondo Restaurant Pricy Italian, but AMAZING atmosphere

Hey there fellow New Yorker! You won't find many of us on the boards. I've been on the boards since last year and have only met two eha members from NYC....one from upstate NY...and two from the Long Island area. I have noticed a splurge (if you an call it that!) of New Yorkers from Long Island lately (three members in addition to the previous two I mentioned).

Your list for restaurants is great! I am not the typical NYC person...I know where all the great spots are, but if you asked me the exact address my eyes just glaze over!

I always feel bad for tourists when they stop and ask me for directions: They may ask, "Excuse me, where is Central Park?"...My response, "It's across the street from the Musuem of Natural History...uh...duh!"

I knowww...I'm terrible!
