It seems like about half the women mention travel as a significant thing in their life, or a desire to do more. In my daily life though I don't meet that many women who express this... where does this discrepancy come from? Also, traditionally it seems like men do more roaming, lol.

Many women do travel. I know a lot that do. But many more don't! When people put together their profiles they do a hybrid post of reality and fantasy. They put down as reality what and who they wish they are or hope to become. Travel is a very romanticized and positive trait that women want of themselves. Some women want the men who read their profiles to view them as more worldly than they really are. Men do this too but with other traits.

Wpr101,

Not to long ago there was a similar thread topic, with a sizable response. You may want to check it out, if you haven't already.

Ah, good point about the romance and fantasy aspect... because I hadn't really thought that women travel excessively more than men, but thenI've seen so many profiles that mention it.

What traits have you noticed that men do something similar with?

I can just speak for myself and that this is a BIG passion in my life..I do this for both my job, mission trips through my church, as well as what I save up my money for. I have not been blessed with any children..so this is an easier thing to do for myself...

I don't care about a fancy house, car, brand named clothes, etc. I would rather take weekend trips and my regular vacations (mostly camping which I love)...and this gives me memories that I can enjoy forever..

So...I know that I list this on my EH profile because it's an important part of my life....and hope that I can share this particular passion with a partner...even if it's just hopping in the car for a spontaneous day trip But I also list that I like the balance of 'snuggle' time at home curled up with my sweetie on a rainy day watching a movie!

Sorry dude...as a guy, I avoid looking at other men's profiles as much as possible LOL. But I can guess we tend to amplify our earning power or importance of our jobs. Maybe books we don't actually read, etc. These are guesses.

It's a biggie with me! I've been outside the states and I take my son on as many vacations as we can manage. I'm saving my money for a month long trip to Italy in four years.

So, it's important to me to be matched up with men that like to travel also. Else the poor fellow won't have a chance.

There does seem to be a lot of female travelers on the websites. In my local social circle I don't know many people (male or female) that I would consider passionate about travelling. None of those passionate about it would if I were looking at their profile would I expect it to be primary focus.

I travel a good deal, and the older I get the more I plan to do it, so it's an essential part of my lifestyle and any potential mate needs to know this upfront.

OP, when I was your age, I had a job that required frequent travel, and I was in an airplane or on road trip every month for a few years. And after a while, it becomes a way of life.

Then as my friends moved out of the country for work, I followed them by visiting, and found that not only am I a really good traveler and travel companion, and I really, really like doing traveling, planning trips, meeting people and learning about different cultures and socieities.

Since I'm trying to finish graduate school,I've cut my traveling down this year, but I've still plannedthree trips, with one of them is out of country, and yes, this is a slow year for me.In fact, the guy I'm dating, it took us a good month to meetface-to-face because we had to coordinate our calendars around his travel schedule and mine, but we made it happen.
