I love an active date, but whether I'd like that as a first date depends on the connection leading up to it. Not much connection - I'd rather meet up for coffee. We chatted and hit it off and I know that we'll have a good time regardless of physical attraction - active date is awesome.

Oh com'on ladies!.... Has any of your dates planned out something fun and adventurous on the first encounter? If not, how do you know you would not like it?

I bet most of you would like a horseback ride through the nature preserve...on a nice sunny day. Slight breeze and 75 degrees. Even on a first date.....

I think active dates are great on first dates because it helps to take the tension out of the date and evokes real responses to each other and the environment. Basically... you can't fake it! You get to see your date for who they are and how they respond to the world around them. You do get to know them... just maybe not in a soley verbal way.

Especially good for those of us who might be a little nervous on a first date.

i personally wouldn't. a first date is so you can get to know someone, and that's hard if you are riding or skydiving or whatever.

second or third date, yes.

Hi Shads,

I would prefer an activity date versus dinner or coffee. I had a first meet/date with an eharmony match and we went hiking. I met him first for coffee/breakfast (just to make sure he was not going to pull out a chainsaw on a hike) and then we did the hike. It was a nice date; a little awkard at the end when we did the sweaty hug (lol!) but it was fun.

I would be up for more of those types of dates. I like the horseback riding idea; that would be a great date to me.

I would love to go on an "activity" date (been on hikes, went to the Masters, concerts, window shopping...ok maybe not that active), but I would not like to be standing at the bottom of a "rock climging wall" while he shows off his ability to get up. That may be the reason most guys don't plan active dates...they may not yet know what the woman likes. I would love to go on a "horse back riding through the meadows" date, but I have never been on a horse, so who knows how that would go...but then again, I will be the first to laugh out loud if something silly happens!

Here's to more activity dates!!!!
