If you are a paying member then you should never send IceBreakers as they are an indication of a non-paying member.

??????? What do you mean? Why would only non-paying members send icebreakers?

I've had SOME responses to them in the past and even gotten to OC with a couple. But there have been many that have been ignored.

So, please explain.
Non-paying are only able to send Icebreakers. Paying members are able to send Short Questions and therefore anyone who sends a Icebreaker is a non-paying.

If you are a playing member and you are interested in someone, send Short Questions.

If I'm interested, I always send First Questions. The worse that can happen is that I get closed out...but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

And the EH article that says not to email a thank you...I'm sorry, but emailing a thank you is just good manners.

To the OP:

If you are interested in someone just send Short Questions.

If you are not happy with the number of matches you are getting or how many are responding there are two main strategies to use:

First, open up your matching distance. When people find out that their perfect match is not living next door to them and they finally decide that they're going to have to relax some standards they open up their matching range. Matching range can be a good indicator of seriousness about meeting someone.

Second, extend your age range up. The older the guy that you allow for, the more likely that they're really serious about finding someone.
