I state that I am into physical fitness but I still get matches who are "teddy bears".

How can I find out the match's size without asking directly? It isn't always obvious from the photo.

EH does not match on these criteria. so simply close them if you are not interested. You have the photo to judge or you can ask--that is all.

If it's early on in the communication phase, I would recommend asking for more photos, and to ask him more questions about his physical activities as "circumstantial" information to help paint a picture for you.

Once you're well into the Open Communication phase, or when you have your first phone conversation (if that is how you proceed), I don't think there's anything wrong with broaching this subject with him. You women are clever, you're good at finding out the information you want without asking for it directly

As I wrote, it isn't always obvious from the photo. Some people have round faces and are slim. I could weigh 250 and would still have a bony, narrow face.

Secondly, many matches don't even have photos.

One thing that could help indirectly would be to select the 'Can't Stand' of 'excessive overweight'.

At least this time the 'weight' thread is regarding men's weight instead of women's.

Use the short question "How much do you exercise?"

Once you get to Open Communications, at some point you are just going to have to flat out ask. From personal experience I know it is better to ask straight out than to meet someone and wish you had!

Put somewhere in your profile that being healthy and living a healthy lifestyle is important to you and that you want someone who feels the same way and who keeps themselves in good physical condition.

Along this line....in a recent telephone job interview I was asked what my personal exercise regimen was. As my field of work is related to health and movement I have a hunch they wanted tomake sureI wasn't obese....but couldn't legally ask such a question.

The OP doesn't really say what teddy bear means, so I'm going by my assumption, which does not mean obesity and elaborating from my first post.

I am not so sure that men who are "teddy bears" see themselves as excessively overweightl. Many who were former athletes probably still even describe themselves as athletic. I know plenty of people who are active that might fit the OP's designation. Doesn't anybody else know people who work out often that are overweight?

I think direct questioning or recent pictures (full body) are going to be the only way really to tell before meeting in person.
