I'm pretty sure it depends on the woman. And the man. This is way too broad of a question to give any other answer than "personal preference."

There are some women that make me drool with the girly-look. There are others that just look silly. A lot of it is based on the "in motion" behavior of the girl. A mature, "older soul" woman would just be odd in girly clothes whereas a bubbly, energetic "young soul" is going to be odd in more...severe...clothing.

Regardless a certain level of youth is attractive to all males. While the "real woman" in her business suit is certainly attractive the "Hillary Clinton" look is certainly not . Not, apparently, even to her own husband, but now we're getting into politics =). I don't even think that's politics, more of politicians. And it's not like 'ole Billy had the best taste in women in the first place.

Biologically fertile women are attractive. Interestingly women tend to be more attractive the more fertile they are (based on the point in their cycle). There also tends to be an inverse relationship to the amount of fabric covering the body and fertility but now we're getting into dangerous territory *ducks*.

Women are most fertile during their mid to late teenage years, biologically. Youth is, to some extent, attractive to all males. It's why we lock teenage girls up during those years =). For all you people out there going "Ewwww! Sicko!" I'd like to point out that women used to get married right after puberty, in other words, from about 12-14 depending on the girl. Society has changed quite a bit since then and now we're all forced to pretend to be grossed out (and to some extent it's not pretending...the prospect of actually going out with a teenage girl would be a nightmare in practice, talk about a maturity gap).

So to some extent the "girly-look" is generally attractive to men. Just remember that it's "girly" in the sense of "youthful" and not "child-like" (which to the vast majority of men is both a turn-off and disturbing). The curves and proportions that indicate a mature body are very important. And you have to be careful because in American culture any sort of attraction to a body that's "too youthful" is looked down upon (unlike Japan where it's considered normal). So there is definitely a cultural aspect to this attraction as well.

If you think about it most make-up and "sexy" clothes are designed to emphasize the characteristics of youth. Facial makeup is designed to simulate a "bedroom face," flushed cheeks and lips and darkened eyelids are both natural responses to sexual arousal and are artifically created by makeup. That's why red is by far the most popular lipstick color and has been since ancient Egyptian women were doing it and why teenage girls tend to overdo it so disturbingly.

Low cut shirts, push-up bras, high heels, short skirts; all these things have a specific sexual aspect, some more obvious than others. For instance high heels are popular despite the ankle, knee, and back injuries that are common with improperly supported shoes because of the way they emphasize the calves and draw attention to the legs. The rest you can figure out for yourself.

Either way the point of sexy clothes is to draw attention to qualities of the youthful female body. So in a way I would say most guys prefer "girly" in the youthful sense and "womanly" in the mature female body sense.

Or maybe I'm some freak and all you innocent women out there are wearing those clothes because they're cute and comfortable.

Sure. Men read Playboy for the articles, too.

ideally, one who can go from one to the other and exemplify the best parts of both. there does come an age though, and it is different from woman to woman, when trying to dress like teens is just pathetic. also as the op is about looks it depends on the individual womans body type, and personality. looking at your pic, i would lean towards girlish.

I think she is asking a more simple question than you genteleman realize. Take one attractive 28 year-old woman and choose which outfit would make you more likely to approach her:

1. a bright colored skirt that shows her legs to good advantage, medium high strappy sandals, little bit low-cut close-fitting top or sweeater, which gives you an idea of her breasts, loose long wavy or curly hair. Natural makeup, but definately some make-up, natural colored or pink toenails / nails.

or...

2. sheath dress (think Audry Hepburn) in sophisticated color of silk which does not hit higher than her knee, hair is in an attractive up-do which accentuates attractive neck and shoulders. She is wearing stockings and high-heeled pumps. Makeup is a little more "done" and classic (think Marylin Monroe) red lipstick perhaps and nicely manicured nails.

PS - In case you haven't figured it out: 1. is girly and 2. is womanly.

PPS - The woman, herself, has elf-ears in both cases!

Since the requested detail is not forthcoming, I think we need to figure it for ourselves.

Girly[/b] = skirts just on the short side of short.

Womanly[/b] = skirts to the heel (major win.)

Add you stuff, fellows!
I wear my skirt right at, or a little below my knees. What does that make me?
