Okay fellas,

If a man starts telling the woman he is dating that he loves spending time with her, he loves her smile, sense of humor and attitude in general, is that "manspeak" that he is in lover with her or is getting used to the idea of being in love with her before he tells her?

Hope this makes sense...

I really don't want to touch this one - because depanding on the man it could mean a lot of different things. Such as:

a) I can't say ILY so I'll say IL everything else.

b) The more I say IL something about her the better chance I have of dancing in the sheets

c)I need to keep this one around while I keep looking for something better so I better say IL something and everything.

d) I really do love these things about you, but we still need time to grow together.

IDK - guess it really depends on the man and how you view his integrity.

Hmm... sounds as if we are in a similar spot in our respective relationships, cynamon....mind if I jump into this discussion?

Let's see, if I look at it per AZR's helpful and insightful comments:

the gentleman in questionis clear that he is no longer looking, so that eliminates (c),

he's affectionate but behaving with integrity, so I don't see it as (b),

so that leaves (a) and (d), which don't appear mutually exclusive. And besides, we've only been dating less than a month, and saying ILY this soon would be kinda creepy. So my money's on (d). And, if I remember correctly, cynamon, you haven't been dating your fella much longer than I have mine, so probably it's the same....?

Stop looking for code-words and "clues". Accept the guy for what he is, and where he is emotionally.

This man is telling you some really important things, but you're throwing them away as "code words" because you're looking for something else. Accept the compliments he's just given you and know that these are important things to hear from a man.

Don't discard them because they're not the three words you really want to hear, and right now.

A guy doesn't love you until he speaks those words. What you say means that he likes you a lot and is still getting to know you and would like to know more of you. Don't confuse love with interest. I don't think true love can come on fast. Many confuse infatuation with love. To me it takes a lot of dates and time with a person to develop love. You can love things about them and love them and still not be "In love" with them. Given time that will come. But sometimes what a guy says can amount to nothing more than pillow talk. You have to be able to tell the difference, not always an easy task if the guy is an experienced player.

I too would agree with Glider - take his words at face value. My feeling is that they're lovely things for someone to say to anyone. I envy you having someone in your life to say them to you! If things are meant to develop further, they will......

loves her smile, sense of humor, attitude in general...I'd be wanting to hear that he found at least something about me physically attractive... 'I like touching your hair", "you don't sweat much for a fat girl," or something
