Agree with tink and wiseman. It takes a strong, determined person to escape such a situation, particularly when it's all you've ever known.

Unless you were a mass murderer, most people care about who you are today, and if they are thinking long-term relationship, who you will be in the future. I suspect you will do just fine when the right man comes into your life.
