I just started dating a lady last week. We've seen each other four times this week and have been holding hands and kissing. We both have been suggesting and making plans with each other in a forward thinking way. Around the corner is Valentine's Day. We will have known one another 2 weeks on that day. We are not seeing anyone else. So here's the question: How do I plan this day without coming on strong? I was in a relationship that dwindled away and ended in Nov. We are clearly digging on each other and have not spent a night together. We are in agreement to move slowly. We barely know each other and I don't want to blow it. She has had me rattled, in a great way, sense we met. So I need to ask outside myself what is appropriate for a budding relationship. SteveME please chime in for me...

I would ignore any "rules" and just plan the evening in a way that would be enjoyable for the both of you. As far as how much to spend, don't spend anything that you would regret spending if the night doesn't go perfectly or she ends the relationship the very next day.

If by "moving slowly" you mean delaying intimacy, that's hardly going to keep you from "blowing it". Personally, I think getting naked and doing a good job at it is the best way to not blow it and keep a lady around, but then again, what do I know about ladies?!

Welp, at 2 weeks I don't believe she'll expect you to buy her Victoria Secret lingerie..

You could make reservations for dinner at a restaurant maybe? Or, cook for her(if you are a decent cook)
I wouldn't go nuts...the fact is you barely know her.
I also wouldn't be buying gifts at this point.

I wouldn't worry.

From time to time I hope a new partner likes me, too.

But I know I can not force this (and would not want to.)

The right question is, is your effort earned and reciprocated?

As a girl I can say most girls like something for Valentine's Day, doesn't really matter what, just so long as the day doesn't go unnoticed. In the early weeks of relationship, you got it pretty easy, as long as you don't go overboard, you can't go wrong. My advice would be a modest bouquet of flowers, or a single rose with a box of high end chocolates.

This^^^^! Don't go crazy, but do something. Dinner out or cook for her if you can. I actually like a mixed bouquet--not as expensive as roses and they usually last a little longer. Chocolate is also a good thing. I probably wouldn't do more than that. I hope things continue to go well.

Good idea. On the card, LESS is better. Start looking for a card NOW, please don't wait. And continue to look for a card that expresses PRECISELY how you feel right now. Not any more. Not any less. And don't settle on the card, get the correct one. Price is irrelevant. Sound on the card? Not unless you know it is important to her.

But I can't stress LESS is better here. A minimum would be greatly appreciated by the woman - card and candy - and please don't skimp on either one. Especially the candy. DRUG STORE AND GROCERY STORE CANDY ARE SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE. If they are your only options, please just don't get any dandy High end candy - and your large high-end department store will have Godiva and that would be sufficient.

The other posters stated just don't overdo it, simple and classy are best.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you!!!

I agree w/ both of these. Also agree w/ the no bouquet of roses thing, just a mixed bouquet or something like tulips or lilies or whatever. Just something simple and sweet that shows you care about her.
