Unless you are long-distance matches or have other extenuating circumstances, one e-mail can be perfectly sufficient. Otherwise, as others have said when this question has cropped up in the past, you risk turning into pen-pals.

It will vary from person to person. Ideally, the sooner you meet the better. However, realistically, the other person's comfort level and ideas about meeting will dictate the pace.

I would meet expect to meet within a week of reaching the emailing stage otherwise my emails get shorter and shorter! ie. I'd limit my replys to one line!

I want to meet as soon as possible. The fewer emails the better!

I think everyone who has done online dating for a while has come to the conclusion that you shouldn't waste your time stuck in email Once the other person has sent you an email you should ask for a date.

So if you started the email wait for a response and then ask for date, if the other person started the email exchange reply with date suggestion.
